I am impressed with how accurate your proportions are when you study other peoples artwork, it always looks spot on
This week, I decided to go back to some Term 1 exercises to check my progress compared to when I first started and to further master the fundamentals of drawing. My plan is to do these kinds of refreshers after finishing each new week — to keep things fresh and keep improving step by step.I started with cylinder exercises and building human poses from simple shapes. It’s really nice to see how far I’ve come 🙂
Rotating boxes is one of the hardest things for me to master. And since it’s basically essential for drawing anything correctly in perspective, I’m trying to dedicate a lot of time to learning it. I also did a small refresher on drawing figures using measuring techniques — plus a bit of light shading practice.
With a bit of delay, here are the latest exercises from my “review” series. I’m quite happy with how my gestures turned out. I’ll keep working on the ribbons, but for now, it’s a solid foundation for further practice.
Wow, your gestures, body figures, and ribbon sketches are impressive that it almost made me jealous!
Your box rotations are very impressive : )
So I decided to take on the challenge as well — mainly because I’ve been following this movement and think it’s absolutely fantastic, but also because it’s my very first drawing challenge ever. The angle might not be tilted upward enough, but I still think it turned out to be a pretty solid attempt 🙂
My own “Frieren Looking Up” 🙂
23.11.2025A small update from Week 4. I finally managed to finish it, so now I can move forward with a clear head. I’m also posting a bit of catch-up work from the previous weeks.

3pp Perspective – Cubes & Cylinders [7/7]As part of the exercises, I focused on drawing forms using three-point perspective, experimenting with different vanishing point placements. Some sketches turned out better than others. At first, I concentrated on “clean” geometric shapes, but eventually I began building abstract structures and even a ship out of them. I finally started to see the vast possibilities of creating complex drawings from simple volumes.
Gesture Drawing (5 min) [6/7]This was a very productive week. I feel like I’m finally starting to understand the flow of a figure and how to lead my lines properly. Not every pose came out the way I wanted, but I’m genuinely happy with most of them. Compared to my earlier attempts, the improvement is significant.
Heads from Photo Reference [5/10]I didn’t manage to complete the full assignment, but I’m more than satisfied with the results. The faces look proportionally correct, the facial features aren’t flat—they have real volume—and the hair and light shading look solid as well. There’s still plenty to improve, of course, but I can already see a light at the end of the tunnel. 😊
The structures youve made in your perspective exercises is really cool
07.12.25Term 2, Week 6 Report
Gesture Drawing (1 min) [6/7]Going back to one-minute gestures ended with me often failing to finish a full pose — there just wasn’t enough time. In the end I usually needed two, sometimes even three minutes. I’m not too bothered by it, though. I feel the poses themselves look correct enough, and in this case the time limit doesn’t seem that crucial. I might try to hit the one-minute mark again later as extra training.
