Hey, it's been a while. I'm starting with gesture drawing. Figure drawing was really pain in the ass for me. It seems to me like I didn't understand the assignment and didn't improve a bit. I think it's because don't understand a figure as a whole so my plan is to practice gesture drawing first so I learn the siluet of human body so it makes sence and then move to making more detailed and more precise figures. I hope it make sense. Anyway my first gesture drawing and my first impresions are: "Damn, it's harder then it seems".
I feel you, it can be hard!
I think now in hindsight that the three exercises are very smartly selected. In one you draw cylinders spheres and cubes to represent forms in 3D space using a body as reference, in another you work hand eye coordination and measuring plus double checking yourself and in the third you learn to get a feel for the poses. No anatomy needed. A few things that I learned during the process of term 1 is that there are certain combinations of lines that can look very pleasing (like tapering curves that intersect with straight lines or angles denoting forces or flows of gravity) and others don’t (like symmetrical curves for example) and the importance of varying line-weight (and paying attention to quality of the lines in general)
One thing that helps woth this is to experiment with the placement of your canvas and how you use your arm to draw. Definitely try drawing big - use all the canvas - and have an angle that is comfortable to you - even better if it allows you to use your shoulders to draw
Cheers and keep working it!

Your gesture drawing looks good but I do have some points:
- I can see that you have multiple mini strokes representing the same larger stroke/line. I recommend trying to limit your strokes (e.g. 10 lines for 1 minutes gesture) and experiment/play around with your line.
- I can see that you are following the contour of the human muscle as I see symmetrical shape which destroys the gesture/dynamic flow. I encourage to try to use asymmetrical shape which further aids in showing gesture. Here's a vid to help you on that.
Hope it helps and good luck with your art journey!
