I am practicing shapes right now Just dropping in and out of it to not lose interest

Yeah it is quite "mathematical" and being a scientist I sometimes need something "loose", for a change

took a break from my usual hammering of fundamentals and produced this photobash image. Didnt go creazy on it with the lighting and stuff, just made it read and then abstracted it into a magazine cover with layer modes

another sam nielson exercise. His exercise assignments are really really good because they make you think hard and it results in a nice picture really. (I didnt paint the background, just the objects in the foreground).

it wasnt bad motivationally because it was the whole focus, but in terms of figuring out how to do it, yep real pain in my ass. Sam Nielson does a decent enough job of explaining it though, that with scott roberton's stuff and it becomes a lot more manageable than you would imagine

Samn Nielson Exercise 4 Translucent Objects. all painted from imagination using the techniques and physics he teaches the reflections layered on the refraction can get really confusing in terms of layer management :')

5 minute gesture drawing drop. Aiming to do 100 then get back into anatomy and constructing the figure.

Love these! Like Handro said, you can really feel the gesture and also the various body types. These definitely reminded me what gesture drawing is about.

bit of an art dump of what ive been up to the past few weeks. I started taking a few online classes mainly for the professional critique and also the project based learning rather than keep hammering straight fundamental exercises all the time. was hesitant to upload because obviously this is an artschool blog, but tbh its more of a personal art journey blog and im too invested in it now, and frankly Ive been reading bits of everything and watching other content the whole time so theres no difference other than theres a few different teachers giving me feedback now. If you dont like it dont look. this blog isnt about marc's course, its about my development, its here for me and also people like me who want to get better and really love seeing other people develop as a source of inspiration. if anyone feels down on art or wants to discuss art and their journey with me Im completely open to that and Im here for you. This thread is for the hopeful artists working away in their rooms with big dreams and few people to talk to about it without getting embarrassed. we can do this guys. keep your head up
