Post for my gestures of the day

I wasn't feeling it too much today. I don't know why but I'll bounce back tomorrow. Reference's used can be found in the free pack

DAY 2

I felt better today. I was able to flow better. More to come later in the day.
Gonna do some 10 minute gestures that focus on anatomy a little more.
I used Grafit Studio references for this.

I had never really done any gesture drawing before. I find I'm having trouble resisting the urge to add unnecessary details, which in turn leads me to feel like I haven't added enough detail

Here's an example; I get that gesture drawing is about drawing the MOVEMENT (or the feeling of the movement) but I fear that I'm just producing poorly drawn stick figures:

This is not bad for one of your first. I still have this issue myself when doing gesture, but watching different methods makes me more accepting of the things I do. I recommend taking your time. Maybe 5+ minutes per pose just so you can focus on each line of the pose.
Secondly, try using a smaller brush.
Thirdly, watch some videos on different peoples process. I recommend: Michael Hampton, Proko or even Love life drawing.

nice work. You even had time to do some shading on a few. Were those done in 1 minute as well or more.

I'm having trouble logging in, so I'll just dump all at once the ones I did so far. The time I took varied between 30 seconds to 1 minutes and I used my left hand as I like to make myself suffer... Actually I just want to train it a little bit.

Week 3 stuff; the construction challenge is going more smoothly:

I can see some areas that need to be adjusted, but I'm not struggling with the concept at least.

Thank you. Yes, I'm definitely more comfortable with these; when I finally started taking art more seriously, I got in the habit of doing construction sketches first. I realize that under-drawings are a basic thing I should have already been doing, but I never really did them when I was younger.

Thanks Malcom for this new iteration of challenge, I'm having currently a try at it.

In the instructions, it's said "Using a reference", so I'm doing half of them over the reference picture, half of them with the reference and the drawing side by side.
