Hi guys,

My name is Anthony, and I thought I'd enter the 2D Art War Competition!
Firstly I like to brainstorm a bit and come up with some weird ideas.
This is what I have on the list so far haha

The ideas highlighted in orange are the ones I'll experiment with and hopefully from there I'll have a main Idea for this competition.

Hi Guys,

I decided to do three different initial ideations for each of the three concepts ( Goblin Chef, Priest and Butcher Lady) and hopefully from there I will have a clearer idea of which concept is the strongest in terms of story telling, character, and functionality.

I decided to draw the Goblin Spice Chef first, I think out of the three the concept in the middle is the strongest. Let me know what you guys think

The other concepts should be finished over this week!

Here's my Initial ideations for the Holy Grail Priest. I'm not sure about the concept I think I prefer the Goblin Chef at the moment, I think the monk is a little bit generic. I should hopefully have the Butcher lady Ideations done in the next couple of days!

I really like this priest guy, especially the first concept, the chains look very interesting!
Just... this is a war. How much damage can a cook do? Maybe if he poisons the enemy with his bad cooking or something... I get the spice idea, maybe he even throws salt in the eyes of his enemies (and then they throw it back in the form of words) but you'll have to work really hard on such a concept, it could easily become way too silly.

Thanks, yeah I agree the first concept is the most interesting out of the three.
Haha yes too true, I was thinking along the lines of the spices acting like explosives. Yeah functionality is a big part and I agree it could be a hard concept. Yeah I don't think I ever wanted the Goblin Chef to be serious he was always planned to be a bit silly/ crazy haha

We have two months, the time is plenty. ^3^
I really like the first one, the silhouette is very appealing. The other two are interesting as well, but a bit hard to read.

Cheers yeah I agree, I like the mezzaluna as a weapon I think It could be interesting. Yeah I'm going to mash a few ideas up see what happens.

What about some bones, horns, skulls, things like that? I think they'd fit more or less with the idea.

I have a few pages of research which includes all the bones and skulls. but I was really interested in the texture of meat especially steak ( I Know it sounds super weird) but i think armour would look interesting if it had meat marbling texture.

Been pretty busy sorry for the lack of stuff, just realised theres 8 days left so I'm going to try and get as much done as possible!

I finished some variations of the chosen ideation, just because there was aspects of the other ideations which I thought were interesting so I wanted to explore and see if some items would work.

This is the process of the character sheet. The meat cleaver scythe weapon went through a lot of changes, I didn't like the shape. My intended purpose ( for the metal pig head ) was to be used as a blunt smashing element, but It just looked awkward attached to the blade.

I gave her scarification tattoos ( since there white) which just adds more character elements to her. The tattoos I drew up in illustrator then just applied the vectors to her skin with a colour dodge layer. There are little hidden references to Australian culture ( pork on your fork) and Diablo's Butcher ( Ah fresh Meat).

I know there isn't a lot of time left but I'm going to try and knock this out!

Hey guys ,

Trying to finish the illustrations before the deadline this is what i have so far.

So I drew up 3 different compositions, decided to go with the one where she's kneeling, because I think it's better framed than the other two.

And heres some development, i sketch some details so that I have a rough idea of what elements I'll have in the fore ground and background. I was thinking it would be interesting to have her kneeling on top of a cage, with other cages suspended in the background.

Hey guys,

Heres some more process, running out of time but I think I'll finish just in time! ( thank you for the extension! ) I'm not the best with colour. I prefer to work in black and white because I feel that I have a better sense of value. I always find it tough converting a black and white illustration to colour ( the values usually change and become muddy) , usually I either get the colour right on the first go or it takes ages for me to find the solution.
