I really like your concept art approach and techniques, and you've got a neat design for your robot priest character. This is just my opinion, but I'm not sure if this character design fits this contest brief. They're asking for an 'epic champion of sci-fi or fantasy" but I don't get that champion vibe from this character. He seems too humble. I don't wanna sound harsh but that's how I feel.

I don't know about that robot wing either. It feels tacked on and doesn't look like it fits any practical purpose outside of 'symbolism.' I love the detail you put into his robot body and religious clothing.

If you want, maybe rethink how his character can fit more into the contest brief aesthetically? Or maybe wait for more opinions to see if they think otherwise?

I've seen quite a few entries that don't seem to strictly fit the brief as I read it. I guess its very subjective, and I'm not sure how harshly we'll be judged on that side of things

Maybe if you play up the ornate detailing, and play up the grandeur with an impressive backdrop and strong lighting (looks like your well on the way there) you can get across the idea of an 'epic champion restoring peace'.

Awesome start anyway, I really like all the little symbols and details you've put in so far : )

Personally I think he can definitely be a champion. Reminds me of Zenyatta. Maybe he knows the fighting style of bojutsu. Keep it up!

I really like your champion!
Btw, if you're looking for suggestions to make your character look like an epic hero, maybe you can represent him as an exorciste. You know, he's an epic robot priest that can be fighting off evils creatures. (Showing us why Sci-fi wins against fantasy)

Coming back to the previous one (greyscale values with 2 thumbnails), I really enjoy the second one too (but maybe it needs a different camera angle ? an high angle shot for instance on the priest-exorcist would be very cool !)
