So guys I combined the blade and hilt as you suggested and made little fixes for the shapes and length of the blade. I think it's turning out really nice! ^^ Gonna add some more details later, but so far I really like it. What do you think? ^^

I'll move to the armor design for a bit to not get caught up in one thing for too long, that doesn't usually make good results haha

UPDATE VII.

Did some work on that armor design and it's slowly shaping up. I feel I will finish designing in like two days haha, super excited to dress my poses in it when it's done

The sword looks fantastic! I love the design, I think it's in the best state already! As for the armor, I have no problem with your design, keep it up! Im excited for the colors dude !

I won't change any shapes on the sword, but it still needs a lot of detail. It's still more of a sketch compared to what I would like it to be for the final concept I will need to make some steel/metalic painting studies before I polish everything to the finalized version.. I never painted any steel things I think and it's also one of the things I was thinking about when joining this contest that I could make a goal to learn it. So I just hope that I won't screw it in the end ^^
Pretty much the same goes for the armor, but I am surprisingly mostly satisfied with where the design is heading and hope I can make it pretty.

UPDATE VIII.

So for now I think I am done with designing and moving to the art part of the concept making the final character visualization, figuring out the wings, choosing colors and making final fixes along the way. It's going to be fun and will probably take me long, so this is probably last process post for some time

UPDATE IX.

Did I say I am not going to post updates? Well I AM, just cause I can

Anyway, here's my today's progression. It's slowly shaping up and I must say it's really fun to do, although I am already looking forward to do some colors, cause I am starting to halucinate from all those lines I drew The first figure is dressed and I fixed and cleaned the sword shape lines so I can finish the design.

Finished back view and little bit more detail. Still line-arts. Don't want to rush. Keeping it as clean as I am able to. ^^

I love the idea of your characters sword on the back, and the mechanism is reasonable so thats good work! Btw how do you do your line arts? Theyre so clean wth! hahaha. Do you use only a brush and draw or you use some kind of pen tool?

@malcom Thanks ^^ Yeah I am aware of that, but prefer to work on high resolution so I can see everything clean when I zoom in and there's no problem transforming the stuff and croping the image at the very end
@Kreyhardt Thanks buddy, I am glad you like it It is brush tool only. I do it in 3 steps. First I paint in shapes of the armor using different values to see the edges, then I turn down the opacity and draw rough lines over it and in the third step I turn down the opacity of the first line layer and draw clean lines on top of them, then I erase the first two layers. Don't know if it's the best way (it's definitely not the fastest), but it works for me and I like clean lines so thats why I do it. Normally you could probably just keep the first line layer and clean it up using eraser, but that never gets you the same result from my experience ^^

UPDATE XI.

Looks like the lineart is finally done! ^^ BUT WHERE ARE THE WINGS?
I left some holes for where the wings will attach to the body, but honestly still figuring out their design. The latest and probably final idea is that there will be some physical roots going out from her back, but turning into wings on a magical basis. She can let those roots grow and summon the wings whenever she needs to. If you guys have some comments regarding the idea, they are welcome! ^^
Anyway I hope you like my design. Still thinking about adding some final details like symbols on the armor or something, but on the other hand don't want to make it too much.
Tomorrow I'll hopefully manage to figure out a color palette to go with and lay down some flat colors. Pretty excited where this is going to lead

UPDATE XII.

I've been playing a lot with color options recently and this is my final basic color to continue with. Turned away from making her clothes blue, cause every possibility I tried ended up looking terrible. Also I think the white color makes her feel more heroic
PS the wings will probably be a bit bigger in the end, made just a rough sketch to see their color.

@oten Thank you buddy, I am glad you like it! Didn't want to make the feet too bright because I find it distracting, considering I want the focal point to be her upper body - head.
Anyway, here's some shading done. Need to fix the face a little bit and do the same for the other views before I move to polishing
