Hi everyone! This is my first time on Cubebrush and I'm really excited to have the opportunity to show and share ideas with many incredible, inspiring artists.

My idea for the 2D Art War contest is fantasy-themed, and is what I call a Face Collector. Names and characteristics will change throughout the course of development of this project, but for now, this is what I have:

The Face Collector is a being capable of warping through space at lightning speeds, and it navigates by detecting movement, temperature, or heartbeats. Feeding off of fear, when it detects a target showing such signs, it teleports behind its prey. If the target succumbs to fear/curiosity and turns back, the Collector steals the target's face (and hence spirit), consuming and storing it as a life source.

My main inspirations for the Face Collector's appearance include aquatic, fanged animals, fishing, hunting, swiftness, and vulnerability lurking within everyone. What if there were something that could prey on someone's insecurities or fear, and could pounce at any instant? That idea was what first spurred this character into mind.

For now, I have created a number of rough appearance possibilities for the Collector. I may play with some silhouettes or thumbnails to get more ideas coming, as well as think more about palette, texture, and any weaponry or attire it may have.

Really cool stuff man. I like how how you're repeating little faces all over the body; as eyes, spikes, armor, and so on. That's a simple but effective way of having unity in your design.

Don't be afraid to draw the legs and feet! It'll ground your character, giving him a sense of weight and balance.

I will try exploring more with the face motif in further designs. As for the legs, I intended the character to not have legs; it warps around so I thought it'd be interesting if it didn't have legs. I will try modifying the look to make the missing legs more of an intended design element (like the stump with hooks in the middle design for example). But yes, I will also play with a legged version

very reminiscent of the "7deadlysins" creatures (which means of course I love it!). Great character breakdown and unique idea. Any words of advice for my character?

Worked on some more possibilities for appearance, textures, as well as more detailed weaponry it could use.
