FANTASY

Here's an initial sketch of my warrior. I see him as a leader of a tribe of creatures who live in a jungle. I want it to be a very colourful, decorative culture so plan on adding lots of jewelery and tatoos etc.

Having a look at colour ideas at the moment. I want him to be very vibrant but keep it looking natural. I've been having a look at African tribal clothing which is surprisingly colourful. Lots of pinks and blues.

this looks really cool and badass :smiley: there's just one thing: I don't understand your color concept.. sorry. I think it looks more interesting if you choose a specific color palette :smile:

Thanks for the reply - I'm trying to get a jungle/tribal colour palette on the go. I'll put together some references. Been working today on the back view of the character so I can have a better idea of how he looks when I'm doing the final image.

These look much better although the middle one looks a bit like the belgium flag :smiley: I like the last one most. His jewelery is a great light/dark contrast on his skin. Besides that the colors harmonize really well. Maybe you can play around with less saturated colors so that there's a main color and the other colors are just for support. This is a wonderful vid about the effect of colors when they interact with each other :wink:

I think the rightmost gives the vibrant palette you were after, whilst still being cohesive, although as said, you might want to play around with the relative saturations.
