It's a really good concept, but i think you should take a look at her weight balance. She is kinda falling foward. Take a look into other mechas with this type of leg. But keep it up!

Triumph makes a good point about her leaning to far forward, but I don't think it's a mecha, looks more like an alien organic leg. She has some very nice finished pieces on her Deviantart.

@HorizonDweller Thank you! I don't have a particular story yet but I wanted to go with a stealthy alien thing haha.
@triumph & @splicer Thanks, I will take a better look at it and try to make it more evident how the weight is distributed/change anatomy around as needed so it doesn't look weird. ^_^ But yeah she's a alien organic inspired by crustaceans.

Little update.

Still really liked the idea I had with the legs. :l Decided to work on a side view for my own reference/because I may not be able to adequately figure out how to depict the leg shape solely from front/back view.

A lot of it is still rough and I'm undecided about the back portion of her head/some other details but I'll figure it out...

Comments/suggestions welcome, of course.

Taking a break from concept to try and figure out what direction I want to take with the illustration.

As of right now, trying to figure out if I want to play with perspective (thumbnail) or something more dynamic--left the anatomy more/less human just for ease of sketching quickly.

I think the problem of weight balance could be resolved by separating her legs a little ( like in the first body type of the first image) .
It is a great design overall!! And i think a pointy back of the head (maybe like the turians of mass effect) would look cool. I just looked you up on instagram and really want to see the final ilustration!!

I feel the legs do look better. The head I'm not sure if I'm sold on it, might try a couple other things.

Still working out other concepts too...
Pretty rough but in all cases she's taking down a mech of some sort.

Didn't have as much time to paint today. Officially back in the lab, sciencing. Woo.

Felt like 3 could be interesting; took a little bit of time to expand on it to see if I like it.

The armor design of your character is insane! I love those lines and pieces of armor all over her! Although I think there's so much details on the boots and on the chest and shoulder area it doesnt seem detailed as the boots, so keep the boots design it looks awesome and add a bit of details on her chest and shoulders, also I would love to see her having a hair or something flowy on her head :)) Anyway I love concept 3 illustration! Keep it up I love your work!

@kreyhardt Thank you! Agreed, I might add a bit more to the top as needed to balance it out. I thought about hair/something more flowy but I kinda want her to have a hard exterior so more horns, spikey, and such.

Started working on colour a bit/more of the front design. ^_^ So I mentioned she's more of a stealthy character and as such I don't necessarily want strong colours for her; she/her armor is more neutral. There'll be a twist on it that I'll elaborate on later.

Okay I understand! Btw amazing skin scale details, I can almost feel the texture so good job on that She kinda reminds me of a draenei though haha! Keep it up man, so far the color fits her

Been a while since I updated, haven't had a whole lot of progress.

Considerable wrist/hand pain from studying/pipetting so I've been taking it easy as much as I can. Decided I didn't like quite a few things about the design. Still subject to change in several areas.

Wish I could say I've had more significant progress. My tablet pen finally gave up on life and snapped in half. It was old and had to be bent at just the right angle for it to work anyway so I guess it had to go eventually. In the mean time, waiting on my cheap replacement tablet to get here.

While I've had all this time to think, I realized there are many aspects of the design that I'm not into anymore.

Worked on figuring out the illustration more (also trying things out with the design).

Not sure if too much of her body is cut off. Also questionable as to whether or not the arms (hers) look okay; definitely lmk if something looks weird. The design on her forearms is more so a placeholder for now.

Slowly making progress. Super slow. For the most part what I'm going with now. The back design is more or less fleshed out but it's still really rough so I'm waiting til I clean it up more to show it. ^_^ Also brainstorming more on weapons; I want her to be more of a melee attacker.

Included a bit of progression for the illustration. :l Think I finally figured out how I want to pose her. Ignore the grid going on, just to help me with perspective.
