Composition (wip 1)

Before going straight into composition, I did two really messy sketches, those kind of sketches that only me can understand, here is one of them :

I thought that it laked a bit of movement, and that I wasn't really going out of my comfort zone so I've chosen the second one, which I've detailed a bit :

Maybe there are too much ice spikes in the background, I'm going to change that aha

Cool ! I like the first comp better, really showthe dominance of the character

Yup composition one shows more of her being super heroic and strong, 2nd one focuses on the action and badassness of her, so it's up to you what to show to the audience I have no concerns since these are very rough sketches, I'll be waiting for updates Also that idea of yours where arrows are generated, thats pretty cool, yeah make the arrows look magical and have some flying particles around it haha

Comp 1 is hands down much better than comp 2 imo. Here is why, comp 1 has a perspective upwards looking at the character that suggests the focal point is dominant and strong. The flow line of the soulds possibly of her victims directs the eye to the focal point, her face. Finally the foreground pieces add to the story and are much more compelling than in comp 2. But it's your choice and I can't wait to see how bad ass it looks in the end.

It was a really hard choice, but I've tweaked a bit comp2 to make the focal point more obvious, and a bit of depth; I hope you'll find it better!

Yes she is capable of that. Thanks to your comment, I've added more arrows, I hope you like it !

Composition (wip 2)

So, I've tweaked a bit the composition to add more depth, and to make the focal point more obvious. I did a really quick black and white version to help me fix my lightning and depths.

Maybe tweak it so that all the arrows are radiating out from the same point? Its mostly there, but the lowest arrow in particular stands out. The arrow sticking out of the leftmost beast is also a little distracting, as its a strong straight line guiding your eye away from the focus Really coming on though, love the horse's armour.

I've changed Lysrel's pose, aswell as the wolf's one. I've been also changing the arrows direction. It feels definitely better, thanks to you guys !

I still have so much work to do. But it is extremely fun, I love doing this !

I think you should look for some references or archers, in this case, her left arm should be completely extended outwards. And i'm liking the idea of how the arrows spread out

Rendering (wip 1)

I've started to do a quick render of the character, I still have a long way to go.
Going for some kind of orange light to contrast with the icy environment. I've replaced the wolves by two undeads shot by arrows, I still need to define their pose tho.
It is still a bit messy, I'm going to clean that up !

Rendering (wip 2)

This is slowly getting done... I still have a lot of work to do, especially on the character. I feel like there is a huge gap between the rendering quality of the character and the horse's one, which I've worked a lot onto (maybe it's because I used a reference ?).

I've been changing the composition (again) and I'm slowly detailing the background and the foreground.

FINAL ENTRY

"A long time ago, in a world unknown to us, the forces of darkness decided to destroy the moon. Therefor, the sun would shine every day and night, as there was nothing else to take it's place. The inhabitants of this world started to starve, as the land was getting dryer. Water became a rare and expensive resource. The god of Light had pity of them. However, he could remodel the sun but couldn't destroy it.

To end the people's fateful destiny, he decided to forge a mighty weapon, which would be able to break the sun. For this, he used one of the sun's own ray, some golden metal, melted using the sun's own fire, and some magic cloth. The bow could resist to any temperature and impacts. He called it "Sunbeam" and gave it to his greater champion, Lysrel, who is now known as the Sunbreaker"
