I like your concepts and ideas (your skills are amazing!) but I agree with the others, it's a way too much to add some sort of minions, you'll lose the focus on Murdock tho. Maybe you could give him two big 'pets' (pls Cerberus hrhrhrhr)

So I made few composition sketches for illustration, trying to make some focus on Murdock. I'm not giant in making thousand little thumbnails, so three is enough for now >_<

BTW, since my english is sucks, can anybody make clear one moment for me, please? Final concept sheet must be strictly 2048x2048px, or I can change format and size with at least 2048x2048? As I understand, It's 2048x2048 with no exceptions (so it's gonna be difficult to compose objects in stupid square). Same question for illustration, just in case.
And back to the suffering! Searching pose for concept sheet. I think, it's gonna be staff most likely. But it still depends on illustration, cause staff don't fit in cerberus pic for example, imo. So tell me your thoughts about which variant of illustration you like more than others and why, I'm really interested (see skethes above)! Same with poses for concept sheet. And thanks fo helping anyway! :}

Here's what they want, 2048 width OR 2048 height. If you want to, round is accepted as long your diameters

does not exceed 2048

. Square, rectangle, rhombus what ever your shape, just fit them in 2048 X 2048 and we're all good.

by the way, nice work, love the 2nd composition, classic, I would suggest a little more angel focusing on your champion.

Finally I started something for concept sheet. Of course, it's not final render, it's only beginning :} Here's a pose I decided to use, and now I want to choose main color for character. I like green one.

Green one is my favorite too! What makes it better IMO is that it's the darkest and therefore it makes the face contrast more with it. I would try making the blue and red scarf darker before deciding for sure!

The design of the scythe is cool, but it seems like the lower part of the beak would detract from the functionality a bit.

Definitely fits better than the staff though.

YES. HELL YES. I thought it would be cool for the weapon to look a bit like a crow and you've nailed it. Scythes are awesome and it so happens it fits perfectly with him!

I do agree that the lower part is unnecessary, we get that it's a beak without it. What's the use of the metal blade if can't slice cause there's another less sharp blade underneath?

@glubglubz, @LensPitt yep, thanks for advices both of you. I knew that lower part of beak would be seems not functional, but anyway it's not final design of scythe. I just wanted to show that weapon is changed. Now I'm still in search for better shape, so this is not final variation yet. I'm concentrating on character detalisation for now.
P.S.: I doubt that further detalisation is a good idea. I uploaded image on forum and it seems just like previous one because of clipped resolution. I'm working on bigger canvas size than stated in contest conditions (just 'cause I can not draw in small size), but I would have to scale it down when It will come to concept sheet composition.

I think I should stop detail him. It took a long time to render front view, so I think I'll just make lineart with flat colors for back view (I hope it's enough for concept sheet >.<). I'll work a little bit more with his face, chest and staff, but later, because for now I'm planning to start sketching illustration.

Nice work i never posted but wanted to give some sort of insight to a viewers perspective, in that the shoulder guard can be more interesting perhaps even have the face forward facing before the wings that might create a more dynamic design, of-course that is up to you to decide.

Really cool really nice design.

As a result, I'm back to first illustration variant with another pose and changed background. Waves of corpses is cool, but impossible to detail for my skill now, so I'll draw a giant and try to make some environment (I have NO fakin experience in environments). Dunno which light I would use - red sunset or cold and dusky.
In any case, beginning is done, so now it must be easier to continue.

It's not fun already :\ I don't think that so long composition searching is sign of something good.
I worked on previous variant a bit, and found that I can't draw normal background. Besides, it's too many figures around main character, so I decided to redraw all again >.<
