To battle this apocalyptic force, a half-breed elf with the ability to find the truth in Dreamweaving seeks to unite the different nations and cultures of a world. Hi! This post is my first introduction of my fantasy character, Rayuka, who isn’t your typical fantasy hero. Instead of wielding massive weapons or dangerous magics, she uses the power of Dreamweaving to share stories to unite different races and cultures of her world to stop an impending apocalypse. Dream Weaving is the ability to conjure images and share stories in a world with little technology and serves the purpose of entertainment, religious practice, historical preservation and political engagement.
Rayuka is unique in being bi-racial, (half-elven and human,) but is infused with Maygi powers that unfortunately stripped away her natural color and altered her appearance to look more albino, but with slight blue glow in her hair, eyes, and skin. She is on a quest to get rid of this infusion so she can return to her normal life. Most of the world’s cultures consider this infusion as a curse because the people afflicted with this condition are often unstable in wielding their powers. However, it also makes her magical abilities far stronger, and unlike many other Dream Weavers who can place a spin on dreams to influence politics or hide the truth, she can always find and reveal the truth from other Dream Weavers. Her gifts will prove to be vital in stopping a mad cult bent on awaking a dragon to reform the world.
Included in this post is my progress on her character sheet. I’m still drawing her back view, and I need to finish designing her clothes. On the bottom left are sketches I have done in the past for reference. On the right is a thumbnail of what I imagine the final illustration to be, which is her holding an open book, conducting a spell to show silhouettes of the many different races and people of the world that she seeks to unite. Above everyone is a dragon encircling the world of Elzria.
