This contest was a blast and it really motivated me to improve my skills. Thank you for your consideration.

Hi everyone!
I'm new to Cubebrush and recently found out about this contest. It seemed too fun to pass up even if I have less than a month to finish (omg). I'll be siding with Team Fantasy this time around. I'm excited to see what crazy heroes everyone comes up with!

I've always been a fan of eccentric weaponry for heroes. After bouncing a few ideas around, I've settled on concepting a Sound Mage or, as I'll call her, a Resonancer.

Resonancers are sound wave manipulators. Most Resonancers use bells as their weapon of choice: small chimes to muddle the minds of nearby enemies, and larger bells to cause bodily harm and environmental destruction.

Anyway, here are some preliminary sketches.

Ooh, what an interesting concept Nice thumbnails too! I like 3, 4, and 8--sort of a butterfly cape thing going, which could look very striking. Good luck! (I started late too, so I'm pretending it's for an employer with tight deadlines 😬)

Bell studies for Knell.

I'm trying to incorporate a Ginkgo leaf motif throughout her design, including the large bell on her back. Though I like the flow of the organic shapes, I think I may need to take a more minimalistic approach to the bell shape.

Nice! Though yes, probably it would be better to go with a simplified approach. Maybe take a look at art nouveau patterns for inspiration. Something along these lines, perhaps? In any case, keep up the great work!

Starting to flesh out the details of Knell's outfit.
I wanted her bodice design to resemble sound waves emanating from her heart which then transition into shapes simulating ginkgo leaves.

Her pauldrons house her melee bells which she uses the majority of the time in combat. The larger bell is more of a finisher/long range weapon.

I still need to redesign the larger bell and figure out what the hell her sleeves are made out of. And do that whole painting thing. NBD T_T

Unfortunately, a winter cold knocked me out for over a week, sigh. I'll see how far I'll get by the 28th. Wish me luck!

Here are some super rough sketches for my illustration. I was trying to find a pose that would best convey her personality and wasn't too complex for the time I have left. Number 4 felt like the best match, so I moved forward with this one.
