For my entry, I want to create a character with a strong silhouette. I haven't worked out all the details yet, but I want something mechy. I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and learn a lot!

For the ArtWar3 challenge I wanted to focus mainly on challenging myself as well as having fun. I have a profound passion for character design, and I learned a lot! This is my character Iva. She lost her arms when she was young, so she is using her levitation super powers to control her hovering mechanical arms as well as being able to manipulate gravity.

I've been exploring with some shapes for now, trying to figure out what I want. While I haven't 100% decided the theme for the hero yet, I am definetly wanting something mechy! What particular shapes do you feel stand out to you?

Update on the design! A very rough sketch so far, I think I am starting to get what I want from the thumbnails. She's supposed to not have any arms attached to her body, so the big arms will hover and was thinking she could do lots of cool stuff with the arms like sending them far away and kick peoples asses and such! Any feedback is welcome.

I love how her design ( the armor and such ) contrast with her innocent looking face. Also the idea of the detached arms is great.

Small update, just finished refining the sketch. I will try different color pallettes next and then start rendering a bit.

Final render of Iva! Any feedback is welcome, I've already realized some problems with how the arms would function as well as some design mistakes, but overall I'm happy.

Nice character and colours. Just triple check your perspective.
I don't know what will be your illustration but the golden parts on her shoulders might hinder her face. Just bend them a bit backward?

That's a good point, I will keep this in mind when I make the illustration!
