First few sketches. Trying to get some nice organic shapes happening here. I like the way the hair becomes a part of the character. I also want to depict how she looks in her normal day life compared to here "super self". I would like to be able to show that she wants to hide her normal day look from her super look. But it needs to be a quick transition to becoming her super character as she might need change quickly because you never know when an animal may be in need.
Currently working on more details of the design. Trying to sort out the color theme. Really want to push the idea of super hero and make a costume with quite a distinct color theme. One of the biggest things about this character is that she does not do much of the fighting at all. She gets help from animals and is able to control them with the use of her "third eye".
As she will be dealing with hawks and birds it is important that she has some protection from the claws. The clothing needs to be practical. I want her to be able to quickly pull the scarf over her head and turn it inside out to create a cloak/cape situation. This allows her to quickly change the way she looks without much effort. This is also the reason for choosing the glasses and scarf over the mouth (also helps in dust storms). It is hard not going all out and adding armor and big shoulder pads... Need to keep it simple and practical.
Let me know what you think. This is still a work in progress and will probably change quite a bit still!
I am finishing up the character design. I am happy with where it has gotten to. I just need to polish up the character sheet and add all of the poses and stuff into one nicely designed sheet.
Started working on the splash art. I want this to be hella dynamic and full of energy. Basically the idea is that the character is controlling animals with her powers. She has her scarf over her head and is in full action pose. I liked concept 5 as it feels like she is jumping out at us.
I am painting like a crazy person trying to get this to exactly what I want. Looking forward to posting my progress!
