cool asymmetrical design on the final character! also, i like the previous weapon design for barbarian though. i think that the shape of the blade is stronger in the previous iteration. currently, the shapes seem less cohesive if that makes sense. keep up the good work, though! i like what im seeing so far.

@MODOF I thought about it too (especially the fork part becoming...not easy to read what it is...). Maybe I'll do a fork/(giant)shield for the upper part, and it will be detachable with the spear part, with a chain or something...or (indestructible) evil hair ? haha
I think the flow will be better with hair (but why not putting some small link chains here and there, we'll see !)

But the spear part, I really like it and will keep it, I have a Monster hunter (video game) vibe with it (despite I've never played any).

Hi @mr_dessin! I see you've been really busy - so many ideas (which is something that I'm lacking - usually I have one idea and I stick with it - more or less). And now you have really badass character (that weapon could cut off dragon's head!). Great work - keep it up!

Hi again @jonatan-moonchild !
Well you know...those who have too much ideas are also having bad times on previous Art Wars...@skullguzma won't contradict my point at least xD
To be honest my previous Art War 2 was bad...probably because I wanted to stick to my first idea...

Anyways we all have our own methods to create, and that's the part of fun too.

Some tweaks here and there...and new stuffs (added some golds, changing her boot and her left feet to monster shape with golden claws...oh and yeah a big evil shield with crazy horns).

So the shield could also be use as a weapon (the sort of leaf in the shield is from a previous fight...her only defeat with an original god).

Her blood is also a weapon, because it's poisonous...she usually cut herself with her weapon for good reasons...
She is actually in berserker mode, will do normal mode besides and her back side.

@MODOF I forget to tell you something about the "non-cohesive shape for the spear", it is also because of her Barbarian look, I wanted something very raw, and actually it match not too bad with my style, for once ^^

I already have some ideas for illustration thumbnails...but I need tons of them to decide ...or be even more confused on which one to choose ^^'

At worst I will start 2 or 3 (or more) rough illustrations before choosing the best of all.

Just few small details added, eye on her monster hand, some clothes here and there, little red eye in skulls, black wave in the power wave (it delivers some kind of rage power for the cristal shield (eyes) weapon)... and back side (but will certainly change it).
And little thumnails for illustrations...mooooore to come !

Also...are we allowed to put our hero/villain on backside view for illustration (aka my A thumbnails), @Acolet @malcom @ESL @cedricgo

I know the second got more impact but there was gonna be too much white in the image

So I fused the 2 first roughs for a new one.
The yellow lightning is sort of paralysis power, I hope it is readable already ?

I'm not particulary happy with this...especially with character placements which look weird and other things...so I'm back at previous thumbnails that are easier to work on.

Still think my very first rough illustration got a lot more impact than the second...but I really do enjoy the ideas of the second...the pain................
But I guess nobody like any of the 2 haha

On a little note, she is fighting a family member, a fallen angel.

The other trouble I have is : gore is not allowed and for barbarian (+ 666% evil) well...

Forget to tell about it but her hair (link between her shield / spear) is also corrosive.

Then definitely go with your instinct. Don't fight it just because she is evil doesn't mean she cant take a strong defensive or offensive stance. She doesn't need to be creepy to be evil.
I'm going to use Bayard Wu as an example here

Keep gore and nudity to a SFW (safe for work) level. If you think you'd get in trouble if your boss looked over your shoulder and saw it, then it's probably too much.

As far as you composition is concerned. Your gut is usually always correct. Go with your instinct.

I think you can find a pose that shows her super strength through motion better than an iconic hero pose. (all these pictures for example.)
But then again I could be wrong. It really is how you depict it.

This is WAR - Your champion should be depicted accordingly!

^From the entry brief. ^I've been thinking about this and I can't really nail down what that is supposed to mean because it can have so many interpretations. I think it's just supposed to help you with your direction if you are stuck though to just get some ideas, so I'm using that for my prompt.

You are definitely putting in the work. That's all that really matters.

I've analized your compositions and I think the best one for me is F, I think fits pretty well with your character, it gives me that Legend of the Cryptids vibe that is great. The action pose and the perspective gives your character that sense of power and control that you can feel she's gonna destroy everybody on the field. Hope it helps somehow : )

Of course, I'm not the only one to work hard here : D
I just rarely think judges like when we change ideas too much (lot to read for sure...).
That would be nice if we know how they judge our stuffs, maybe one day...

But whatever, I know even in 10 or 100 contests I won't ever be in the 50 haha
Just like to challenge myself all the time.
And Bayard Wu is sure a great artist (I'm following his work on DA).

F was also on my top favourites, but she does not really show her very distinctive power I felt in this picture...
