I like the creature, i can see the design in my head sort of colorful with the flowers on the body like in your concept. (in a humid atmosphere)

Ew. It's looking good. I really like the holes you put through some of the 'petals', it gives it a past and grounding.

I think you shouldn´t cover her up, or cover her up but in a way that one can see that she is part of the creature.

Hey man, really like the idea. Covering her up is a good solution to avoid the "planted" effect, though, optimally, there's something to be done on the anatomy of the beast to have a nice transition between the two. Think about what having a person on your back would do to the body. Maybe you could use the scapula growing upward on the back to form "bone petals" that would envelope the woman lower part, like a flower.
Just an idea. Your petals look amazing though, would be really cool to have a light on it with subsurface scattering
