Hey peeps,

Really excited and nervous to enter this contest, so many badass artists competing. My idea for the Sci Fi camp is a cybernetically enhanced Cthulhu.

With the rise of technology the human race did the unimaginable and not only found the elder one, they managed to violently subdue it and in their hubris decided to "perfect" what the cosmos could not.
When the barbaric fantasy horde opened a rift and decided to invade our futuristic utopia with their swords, magic and monsters. We decided it was time we released a monster of our own to end this war.

My goal for this character is to work on my artistic weaknesses. I almost never design my own creatures, I have not yet done hard surface modeling and I have yet to push my PBR knowledge. These are all things I hope to achieve to some capacity.

I have been trying to figure out the head for my creature, once I figure out how the tubing and tentacles will interact with the body I will start to finish up the body, begin (monster-fying) the anatomy and then begin planning my cybernetic and armor pieces on the body. Lots to do

I forgot to post up my inspiration sheet so wanted to do that now. Using this to get some inspiration for the head and body armor designs. Well keep this thread posted on updates, thanks again for the time.

Oh dude I'm right there with you, Blair Armitage, Yekaterina Bourykina AND now Kenneth Doyle is participating? DEAD haha, but I agree, The judges for this are people I highly respect so I wanna turn it up to 11 with my submission (plus I wanna work at Blizzard and...what, 4 judges are/ have worked there? xD)

But yeah dude you got the anatomy down, I think you'll pick up Hardsurface fine. Search 'PBR Bible', it's a polycount link, probably the biggest resource you'll find on doing PBR. Good luck!

Wanted to post a quick update, I havent had as much time as I have wanted to work on this as I was wrapping up a side job. I managed to finish the human anatomy but honestly it felt pretty stupid. So I just broke everything and started over with more monster like proportions and shapes. Still need to finalize forms and clean things up but this is starting to feel a little bit better.

Awesome work dude, loving the new anatomy and the back tentacles, watch out anime girls although i think youre starting to lose some of the cthulhu elements that you had with the original head.... actuallly thinking about it have you looked at the kraken monster in the game evolve? could be a cool bit of inspiration
