First time ever posting here on cubebrush...though I've been here since the beginning! It's intimidating looking at everyone else's pieces when your still a student. But I had to jump in sometime! And who can pass up a chance to make a hero (in my case a scifi one).
So I'm coming at the concepting portion a little different then everyone else seems to. I really like organically creating a character and just finding what really fits.

this is where I'm starting from. I know the feel that I want and I'm just starting to bash out how to get there. In the end my hopes for Darby is a high contrast scifi swarthy mech pilot. I'm trying to avoid actually using other peoples work as straight inspiration but here is the references I used for the otter body
