Hi everyone,
this is my first Art Challenge, i'm very excited! Let's get to my Character!
High Potioneer Alextra Dragontale (Backstory)
House Dragontale is a long line of renowed alchemists, traditionally in service to the Monarchy. Alextra's parents both advice the Royal Family.
The name Dragontale is found on many books in the royal library. Her ancestors achievements excel each other in various alchemical disciplines, but never was a child born so gifted in the brewing of Potions. The talent was recognized early by her parents, and so she was sent to the royal academy at a young age. It wasn't easy for her, often she was bullied by her older classmates. But you have to understand one thing about potions. They can be invisible to the taste. And of course do funny things to a bully's body, like effectivly locking them in in the lavatory for a whole afternoon.
After her graduation, summa cum laude of course, she moved into royal service. She traveled far and wide, made long excursions into foreign lands. And it was on one of those excursions, when she met her lifetime companion. It was the tale of an ancient master of tinctures and tonics, that brought her to the edge of the known world. The tale led her and her crew to an almost sunken temple inmidst an unending swamp. After days of careful excavation, the burrial chamber was revealed. To her suprise it was sealed off with a powerful rune. But this primitive form of magic was no match for Alextra's skills. She used a potion to drain the power of the enchantment until it was too weak to manifest itself any longer, the seal was broken. To her suprise the chamber did not contain a sarcophagus, nor any other burrial vessel. Instead, a book was chained to an altar. It began to twitch and glow as Alextra entered the chamber. She stood frozen as the chains shattered. "Is this my last moment?" she thought. But the book seemed to calm down and the light it radiated changed from an aggressive red to a calm blue. A voice snuck into her mind "Come closer, young artisan". "Who, no, what are you?!" she responded. "You came here to seek knowledge, young child. I am knowledge." whispered the voice. "The book, you are the book?!" she concluded. "Yes, this is my physical form. I, the great Al-Azif, transfered my spirit into this object, to preserve my knowledge for my people." he proclaimed in an angry tone. "To preserve your knowledge? You were sealed in here, probably for a reason." she talked back at him. "Yes, well, you must understand i was betrayed." he took a deep breath. "and to transfer and bind one's spirit may have cost one or two more lifes." he added in remorse. "I knew it, i should burn you at once" her hand slid onto her belt, holding onto a red poition. "WAIT! wait. No. I can offer knowledge, endless knowledge." he bargained. "In exchange for what exactly?" she retorted. "To see the sun again? Get a chance to redeam myself?" he begged. She hesitated. "Fine" she concluded. "But be warned, one suspicion and i'll torch you with a flame that rivals the sun". she threatened. "Yes, now let us seek my brothers, shall we?" he stated and she chould almost see the smirk in his voice.
Since then both travel the world together, uncovering ancient alchemical truths.
Concepts will be sketched, WIPs will be posted.
GLHF everyone!
