Been a bit slow over NY, having fun hanging out with friends, but I have an extra week to get loads of this done before work starts again

Here's the blockout minus weapon, all the props on her are placeholder so I'm going to try and make them all interesting designs in the end. The big round thing is going to be a gourd like this -

Feedback would be really appreciated, especially concerning overall proportions and silhouette of the shapes, I have a bad habit of making things too thin and flimsy and I want my work to become more chunky and readable!

The gourd (silhouette) isn't super readable at the moment. I prefer the rectangular shape of the ramen holder.

God i miss the ramen in Japan.

Looking good!
I think overall silhouette has a nice feel. Currently is readable and chunky so don't worry about that!
Some suggestions:
maybe having the props hanging from each side less symmetrical. Some could hang higher on one side. Maybe try moving the gourd around or adjust scaling. Currently i don't think it reads as well next to the spoons. (maybe that won't be an issue when posed.)
I would also take caution on putting too much detail on the oni mask (a detailed face next to your characters face, may take away the attention from her face.)
Also i'm not sure of the bells underneath her shoes. How irritating would that ringing of the bells be though!

@jacque_choi thank you! The ramen is so good ;-; I plan to have both! I'll refine the gourd shape later, but if I can't get it to work out I can always delete it.

@FemCharles Thank you Just moved around the props a little, asymmetry helps a lot. I'm hoping the gourd will make more sense when its sculpted properly, but we'll see. Yeahh the mask needs to be kept super simple, I will keep it in mind. Man, she is adorable! You're really booking with progress too. I know you said you're racing a bit to get as much done before working again, but...damn! Looking just the bees knees right there. =)

I'm a little curious how you approached the base "head" of her hair. I'm seeing some tube-strips brush in there for the bangs, but did you bulk in the side braids and such in Dynamesh and then ZRetopo? I'm always torn on the specific process, whether to deal with the weirdness of ZRetopo or just straight up quickly re-topo an area by hand for a working base.

Thanks, I'll try and keep up the speed!
For the hair, I decided first which parts I want to separate into individual chunks, then start with a dynamesh sphere, smush it around until its the shape I want, and then zremesh. I think I'll keep them solid chunks, maybe add a stray strand, thinking of just using really minimal alpha for some of the hair tips.

Quick screengrab update, I refined the high poly for the clothes and hair, still need to finalize the shoe design, then I'll get to work on props/weapon.

Really nice consistency and style throughout the design. There are some good chunky forms which I really like. Great job so far, looking forward to seeing more
