In Norse mythology, Hœnir is one of the Æsir. He is mentioned as the one who helped Odin to create humans. He gives the gift to humankind of poetic inspiration, intellectual insight, the intoxication of spiritual ecstasy, and the frenzy of the battlefield. He has been described as a “swift god” and “long-legged” and more fearful than the other gods around him. So perhaps he's a champion of command and not that of the fight.

I hope to do this character in the style that is associated with Disney Infinity. I'm thinking of working with a sunset pallet and with a few classic sci-fi elements rolled in. I still want to show the nordic side of things in his style but I hope it will meld together quite well.

I'm going to take inspiration from the 13th Warrior(which can be argued as part of the sci-fi film genre) and such people as Janelle Monae, Serge Girardi while assisted by Brais Vilaso.

Please let me know if there's somewhere else I should be looking for inspiration as well. The more references the merrier! Inspiration Board to follow suit in the next few days!

I have a few more images to show. Clothes haven't been prepared but I've made a 'low poly' model in blender of my base shapes while Christmas celebrations have been going.

Notes so far:

  • Unsure about skin colour at this very moment. As he's from Norse Mythology so I would expect him to look rather light skinned like the Nordic people that worshipped and spoke of his mythos. How light his skin colour is will probably be determined later.

  • I've rethought the hair, the style I was originally going for was too complicated and didn't suit the character's style

  • I'm now aiming for long hair that flows a bit like Tarzan's because it will be similar to the Disney Infinity style. It will also give good amount of character.

  • I'm trying to keep the frame thin and not as muscular as Thor (more like Loki). He's smart but scared of the battle. He still needs to be a capable fighter and someone that could still hunt for his food. I'm not giving him a pot-belly because he's described as a “swift god” and “long-legged”. I want him to look light, not muscular heavy and not fat/rotund heavy either.

  • I am also going to experiment with his legs at the moment. He might really look good if his legs are unproportionally long.

  • I'm thinking about giving him a robot hand like in the inspiration images, but I'm not sure if he'll need that. A thought just hit me that I could make his legs longer with something similar to pogo legs. This would give him the look of abnormal, long legs and a swift run. This could be super interesting.

  • I'm thinking about the pose to place him in before I start sculpting. I want to use a similar sfx command style to Ender's Game and Iron Man for the final composition. He'll be on a tiny little miniature base which will give me a few important limits.

I would love some feedback to see if my thoughts are making sense. I can post more images if that helps.

With and without hair.

Update: Done some leg choices, got a few ideas on what to do to elongate those legs.

What do you think? Personally, I'm liking the amputation of his legs and replacement with something more bionic. It's difficult to create the intricate legs when it's aimed to be a little miniature. I have to get the detail in there but make it simplified. No wires, not very thin items.

Image Updates.

I've gone with a thinner body style with a two and a half head chest (but two heads might work better) two head upper legs (i'm thinking maybe three heads) and two head lower legs

The lower legs have been my concern lately. And now that I've made progress on them in a way that I like, I'll be focusing on the rest of my character
