G'day everyone,
Happy to be here and working on a comp. Don't normally have the time for these but I'm looking forward to seeing how I can push my skills and develop a sweet character.

Ahmi, The Space Witch
I figured I'd dabble in crossing the streams of fantasy and sci fi with the original premise of What would a space opera be like if magic was very real

From here I settled on a Witch like character in space.

Current Progress
Begun baking and material work.

Reference sheet

Ideally combining the elements of
cute and crazy witches with more hard surface stuff from sci-fi.

The Concept
Bear with me here as I am hardly a concept artist, though I am glad for the practice.

Generally I wanted to go for a armoured, space proof underlayer with cloth over the top. Struck me as very Destiny which I looked to for inspiration.

The concept itself didn't quite turn out so armoured however and I imagine I may diverge from the concept a little bit before the end.

The colours are hardly final but a rough start to help get the idea going.

C&C always welcome and appreciated.

Next onwards to the fun parts, sculpting

Progress,
Began blocking out all the costume pieces.

Not super feeling it honestly at this point, but I'll see how it goes once I start tidying up the base blocks and refining it all.

More progress, fleshed out the main clothing bits, starting to get into the smaller details.

Been jamming in Zbrush now,
Reworked the entire boots and begun shaping the head and hair more.

Had a lot of fun sculpting out the cloth folds. Always room for improvement though.

Big update.
Repto-d Baked and begun texturing.

Still need to tune the materials in substance painter and the colours are pretty first pass.
Not to mentino eyebrows and lips.

Still, it's coming along.

Of note, I tried a new method for unwrapping to create much more square uvs and it worked really nicely!

So I haven't updated in a long time. Life gets in the way of things.
I don't think I will get around to finishing the comp however it was a real blast to dive into and forced me out of my comfort zone which is great.
