Thank you so much @Oceane_Roh !
I try my best everytime...just not sure if I can finish like I really want to ^^'

Not sure which one to use yet...even if that's maybe the last thing I will do :sweat_smile:
If you want to put your suggestion on which one could look the best (I know I haven't detailed them each a lot...or maybe I will keep them 3 and decide at last step).

Still not sure about the green/turquoise sky, but I like this colour.
Next step probably adding new monster + changing the flying one.

And a closer look on one.

I'm liking B and C! I think either of them will work well. Looking good though, keep it up man!

Thank you @sani ! Well after some thinking, I'm going with B "Huge wave" (and now there is an ocotpus emerging from the sea).
Baby steps of today

I enlarged the canvas on top.
Many little details everywhere...I think the canon is looking better this way.

So many stuffs to correct, so little time left...

Added an octopus-dolphin (don't ask me why this breed) and a sort of giant eagle-dragon.

The tentacle on his right leg comes from the sea (octopus-doplhin).

Seems you got similar colours going on in here but much brighter and livelier hehe <3 love your concept sketch iterations you did earlier :>

Sure I know my values are totally wrong and all...but I prefer to focus on the details first (yes that's probably not the best T-T )

Also, you make a good point here...I loose so much strength when I paint it (I also prefer my sketches than my boring paintings...they loose so much dynamism with these linearts).
Well, that's a bit false because I can't get rid of the linearts...or else everything is blurry or confusing and all...

But my first problem is, I started it too late....and I don't really like it anymore.
Still I will try my best to finish it (but I got a gift to finish for my nefew birthday :sweat_smile: , of course tomorrow )

Nevertheless, I do know I progressed a lot since 3-4 years doing Artwar(s) !!!
And surely many of us are, even if some can't be here every year or barely, sadly :sob:

And that is some serious energy going on here!

As for "I don't really like it anymore" - don't pay attention to that. It's perfectly normal :wink:. I for example don't like my piece at the moment but I know that I simply have to push it thru. Usually after initial steps, when we doing concepting and sketching and all that stuff, we get excited, but when it comes to actual realization of so cool idea, our excitement seems to vanish somewhere... somehow... And this is where perseverance and stubbornness should come to stage. We just have to push it thru. Good luck mate. Fight to the end! :smile:

Best regards
Jonatan

I guess every artist has that with sketches they see :> cause you can really see the potential of where a piece might go. ^^ I don't see what's wrong with having lineart, personally I prefer drawings with lineart over rendered stuff because it can keep the drawing nice and clean.

Ah I know that feel, Good luck trying to finish it still! I hope you will make it in time ^^
And yes! Art war allows us all to push a bit further :> I'm not even here for winning just wanna prove to myself I can still make a decent drawing after having taken a break for a long time ^^b

@jonatan-moonchild
Sure I know it is normal feeling to don't like a piece you are doing since a while...
We defenitely have to push thru this...just not enough time (as usual).
Of course I started it a bit too late (less than 15 days ago)...my other Artwar, I started them as soon as they begin (so about 2 months), and plenty of time
Despite that I always do too much characters/sketches and ended up with a piece that maybe wasn't the best of them all.

Sometimes your first piece is the best one.
I sure am perseverant and stuborn person (even if I kinda look more than chill)...my stress is always over 9000 :joy: (whatever what I'm doing).

Like I said on your thread, I hope you too can have the time to finish this (like you want)...but I guess it might be a bit short on time.

@nyamesis
And from a sketch of one piece it could go in so many directions...put the same one in the hands of 10 various artists, results could be super fun xD (even from the very first idea of the sketch itself)

Don't make me wrong, I'm not even here for winning either :joy:
Sometimes I'm blind and totally out of power when I see master artists posting their art with some nice sentence like : "I don't know what I'm doing" or something like that (or worst)
:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
But sure every artists go through that stage once in a while whatever their skills...

FINAL - Despite many points I couldn't handle, I'm quite happy with the results (probably my best work somehow :sweat_smile: )

Thank you all so much for the cheers and encouragements !!!
Hope to see you next year.

Can't wait to know the topic for Artwar V !!!
Best of luck everyone !

Congrats on finishing dude!! Great work!! :smile:

Yeah I'm really uncertain as to why I haven't seen this piece before, but I do have a few points to add. There isn't much time left, but I know more can be done to help with your piece - the biggest point is that your piece is lacking a lot of focus i.e. there's stuff happening absolutely everywhere your composition is pretty good though so it's a matter of perhaps removing some things and refining that focal point, really show your audience where you want them to be looking. You also have a lot of colours going on, which can work well if there weren't so many things happening.. I think I see three different creatures here alone? If you reduced it to one, perhaps the tentacled monster you could really help the focus. I did a quick paintover, it's a bit sloppy but I hope it makes it a bit clearer. Like I said though it's a really complicated piece so working around so many different elements is difficult - What you have here is pretty amazing already it mostly just needs finesse and a bit of focus. Take my feedback with a grain of salt!

I basically gave more focus to the one creature in the back and the main dude, gave some focused lighting and a bit of contrast between your character and the environment. As there is so much going on, you really need to tone down some areas so that the eye can rest, it's important when it comes to planning and creating pieces that have a lot of chaotic elements

It may or may not be too late to take heed of any of this feedback at this point, in which case just keep that in mind for the future! Looking at your older thumbs I really like what you used to have, it was impactful and had good focus. But I think you were a little overly ambitious and it might've gotten you a little. Which is fine, being ambitious is great, you will learn to harness it a bit more in future! I did also notice that in your older stuff, you didn't play around with lighting, colour or thumbnails properly - more or less just went straight into the final piece (you had some sketches but I didn't see any planned light work, which really helps).

Anyway enough of my ranting, I hope you find some use of this, and best of luck to you in the contest and future artwork!

Somehow, I don't think I ever saw your topic or character before. :sweat_smile:

So I think character is pretty neat. I can't do robots, so I'm always amazed when I see someone doing a cool looking robot. :laughing: He has a lot of neat details. I think I agree with @nesothat a bit of simplication could help the readability, but it's still not a nice piece.

Good job and good luck!

Edit: By the way your picture shows up as being 983 by 1471 pixels. You'd need to change it so that one side is at least 2048 pixels.

@cedricgo
That's weird because my image is 2400 x 3000+ or something like that...I will try to correct it.
And thank you for the compliments !!!
To be honest I did not even choose to draw robots because...they choosed me :joy:

@rgdraw
Thank you so much !!!
I tried my best with little time I had left :sweat_smile:

@nesokaiyoh
Ahhh thanks a lot for the paintover and explanations !!!
My artwork was a bit overly complicated, for sure :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: but again, with little time left I had to work on the piece...I couldn't do much more (also I should have started really earlier ^^' )
If it wasn't for my nefew birthday, I surely have cancelled what I had to finish my piece....(plus my laptop is completely dead since few months so I could not even work on it far away from home...nor my sister laptop - crapy one T-T)

Yes it was chaos between colours and all what was going on...thing is, I added much stuffs along the road...and it was really bad idea probably...(also too much layers I could not even merged together etc...my workflow was terrible...and I rarely did illustrations these last months)
But yes, I should have gave more focus on my main creature !

The only thing I'm not really sure if it could work with your paintover is the format now.
It maybe deserve a larger canvas ?

Oh and yes I'm not very good with lightning, values and such....even after lots of years (partially) trying.

Anyways, thanks again for this, that's some great help !!!

I see. Maybe your file size is to big. I believe if it's over 2 MB the forums will compress it to a smaller size.

@mr_dessin I'm not sure if it's necessary, but maybe you could just write it's your final, just to make sure it's clear.
