@Oceane_Roh I was considering blue in place of the teal-green sections in my tests, but the teal-green seemed to harmonise more imo. I'll try some new schemes with blue later.

@nesokaiyoh Glad you think so. ^^ I've been using moth fur colours from the moodboard for reference.

Now with my Thunder-Beast design finalized for now, I started thumbnailing the character illustration. I'd been deliberating who he fights because it didn't cross my mind when I started. But then I figured, if he's a moth, he should remain the size of one, so his enemies could be predators naturally bigger than him.

The question is whether I should adorn them with Greek armour too to link with Thunder-Beast's Greek theming. I don't want to spend too much time designing his enemies too.

Ahah I love the mini-sized-electic-god-superwarrior.
Fighting lizards could be a nice one because of their natural connection with the earth element. The 5 or 2 are the most appealing to me.

I agree with 2 and 5 composition wise. The others do have potential but in terms of composition and perspective they're far more flat and a little bland in comparison. Good work I really like this tiny hero idea!

@Oceane_Roh @nesokaiyoh Agreed. Making lizards part of the Earth faction could work. I'll take #2 and #5 and expand on them later.

Btw thank you for the consistent feedback so far. It certainly helped. ^^

You're very welcome
This is what make this challenge so cool !

Finished expanding the illustration thumbnails. Safe to say I'm gonna go with the first composition. I had more fun playing around with the first sketch's compositon while the second one was trickier.

Yeah your first thumb is really cool ! We can really feel the speed and the power !

Phew. Spent last few days rendering the Thunder-Beast. Tried to paint the beard to be cloud-like, but not sure if it needs refining. Critique is welcome.

It kinda look like a candyfloss bear, but hell yeah that's cool !

It does look a little like candyfloss, :stuck_out_tongue: I'll have to tweak that. But thanks!

i like the look on this and the colors, the soft feel to it works well for me top part almost feels like a cloud. (views rough concept it is a cloud nice work!)

Started work on the submission. Merely sketchwork, figuring how much detail to apply to the lizards and tweaking the composition. Not sure if I should edit the aspect ratio to be wider and more cinematic.

I will always say yes to wider aspect ratio lol

But in truth it could help your composition more, that burst of speed from your dude right across the picture like that

Changed the aspect ratio. Definitely helps. The composition feels less constricted now. Thanks @nesokaiyoh ^^.

Finished rough sketch. I will clean up the sketch next. Any constructive feedback on my rough sketch is appreciated.

hmmm, this is cool, what gets to me is that this enemy is more of the focus than the hero in this image, i'd say if you can lessen his appearance and enhance the hero more might be neat maybe raise the hero and put this enemy more under the hero sliding off to the left of the shield and towards the ground. That is just me, i don't do much drawing so, take it with the grainiest of salts.

I understand what you mean. The focus might change later though when I start rendering colours and values. I plan my champion to be bright and glowing as it's powering through, while the lizards will be darker tones and possibly blurred the further they're away from the champion. I might remove detail later if necessary. Thanks for your input. ^^

Finished clean version of illustration sketch.

Okay... so overtime, I've grown to dislike the basic shield design I used so far. I've decided to redesign it before continuing the illustration.

I knew it needed changing, but I couldn't decide how. After browsing through several Greek shield references, I thought of shaping the shield to look like moth wings, while trying to keep it visually Greek-influenced. I drew up several variations of this idea and wondered if anyone agrees/disagrees with this concept.
