I understand what you mean. The focus might change later though when I start rendering colours and values. I plan my champion to be bright and glowing as it's powering through, while the lizards will be darker tones and possibly blurred the further they're away from the champion. I might remove detail later if necessary. Thanks for your input. ^^

Finished clean version of illustration sketch.

Okay... so overtime, I've grown to dislike the basic shield design I used so far. I've decided to redesign it before continuing the illustration.

I knew it needed changing, but I couldn't decide how. After browsing through several Greek shield references, I thought of shaping the shield to look like moth wings, while trying to keep it visually Greek-influenced. I drew up several variations of this idea and wondered if anyone agrees/disagrees with this concept.

2, 7 look good

Updated Thunder-Beast with shield redesign.

ooooh I love the new shield, the moth inspiration is a nice touch !

Thank you! Glad you like it.

That guy is awesome! I really like the new shield too

Been a while since I commented on here, but I've been creeping xD
I like the shield design, it resonates with your moth man! The pink fluffy beard is nice too

Thanks @nesokaiyoh ! I've been creeping your thread too. Your champion's stunning and getting a lot of attention. It might be a winner.

Team lightening! The idea of lizards and moths as mortal enemies is great. Also, the wider aspect ratio looks good.

Don't get my hopes up lmao I didn't enter for the prizes (won't complain if I get further than the first round tho) Thanks so much for the kind words!

gj! very original concept ! exellent rendering of details.

however is it possible to get it in a more dynamic position? if it's too late for a big change like that ... just make sure the legs make more sense. now they don't seem to connect well to its body and they seem a bit too small? just imo....

gl and keep it up =)

Yeh, it was a little tricky trying to pose his limbs since his beard kind of obstructs view of his body a bit. A design drawback. :x

It's not clear in the B/W clean sketch but a little of his back thigh can be seen. His pose might be tweaked later in the rendering phase. Thanks for the critique!

ah really loving those dynamic comps really cool! seems you also going more for creatures atm ^^

A WIP shot of my illustration. Very rough, applying local colours and figuring out which colours to use for BG elements and the lizards.
