I wanted her to look pretty dangerous so I thought spiky shapes like that may be good. I'm actually looking for more ideas for the weapon, maybe an harpoon instead of a sword.
Personally I think a harpoon would be really cliché for a water based character, I'd take a look at some creatures and get some inspiration from them, try to create something as unique as your character
