Experimenting with composing/desigining the character based off of whether or not they are attacking or defending
Since this character is mostly drawing inspiration from the mind, they're kind of 'fantastical' looking, like a 200 foot tall imaginary friend. Who will fry you with Holy Lasers.

That reminds me, are we supposed to choose between attacking and defending? Or can it be both?

We do have to choose! I just feel like developing two compositions and picking between my favorite
i think i might be more partial to the composition of the attacking pose but the expression in the defensive composition is more my style.
Also yeah, There is something charming about someone who is very tall, and imposing, but with a 'sweet' face.

I like his expression on the right, he looks like a more chaotic character than he is on the left.
He could be a really good fallen angel or a mad god of some sorts

Doing some full-body/outfit sketches + color testing
IDK why, i feel like i want to go for a more natural look for the 'outfit', it feels like it fits more if the pieces of the 'costume are actually just parts of the body. I might also stick with a very limited pallet, sticking to greys and golds mostly

Yeah- the idea behind him is kind of like,
I think about what it must be like to Be the 'champion,' shouldering that responsibility, having all that power to topple/dominate in this 'war' setting. What kind of person that would have to be.
A 'bad end' scenario with a character with all that power would just be total devastation. Which is something I don't think he necessarily wants but would be unavoidable if he really had to go all out.

I really like your design so far, I kinda like the one with more human like limbs more than the other one

hahah hah. Faction change. OK- so. the thing i really liked was the crumbling statue look i had going on, and after smacking my forehead for not jumping on it sooner: Statues are stone. Stone is earth.
So the new look is kind of inspired by a flower garden ( complete with decorative statues.)
Also it was going to be easier to be true to the logo with an earth faction character
Their powers? you'll just have to wait and see.

I love your line work , you got this very beautiful style that has an almost 80s space opera anime feel.

There is a lot of potential and raw story you can already tell from lookin at this character sketch design. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this homie.

I'll hopefully have something to show for it soon but im still ironing out a lot of details

OK time for some thinky thougths no one asked for:
So im taking things in a bit of a different direction, most of these here are just to show you all where I started from- and what to expect from future updates. Are these my usual Over-the top detailed designs? Not quite, not yet at least. Having a non art related job is really hitting me over the head with a hammer, to be frank. What faction is he part of? Well its either going to be fire or lightning, i even messed around with an earth emblem there too.
Anyway, point is, I decided I was going to try something very energetic, with a lot of hard surfaces, quite the opposite from my usual soft-surface organic style
Also the Hot Pink is my Anchor point, the outfit is going to be at least 80% hot pink,
A lot of these are merely feeling sketches, so details are still extremely loose. Don't even look at that hammer , i've already got better plans for it anyway.

The one one the right with the baroque patterns looks very interesting as well as the one on the left with the lines, very interesting clash of cultures.

Ok when I say im going to do something, don't take my word, chances are Im not going to do that (sweats)
I was thinking about propane tanks at work, and then i guess that snowballed into whatever this is, Lets see where I go with this one I also might mash this design up with HotPink guy, somehow.

Maybe that's totally faulse what I'm saying but...kinda have a "The King of Fighters" feeling with the very first sihouette (from Pink guy).
Also like the one with the weapon (laser gun or something ?)

I really love the pink designs with the high heels, honestly looks so amazing! O8 The second in from the right with the huge gun and black things down his legs are so nice, I rarely see designs like this for males and I think you should push it! Either way beautiful work and I'm excited for your final!

On another note, while your development is nice, I do think the larger piece you posted below that page is a little more boring (imo), a little bit more common
