hahah this dude's got a ton of personality xD just be careful with how you use saturated colours, I'd suggest toning down the yellow a touch so the blue can really have impact or vice versa

I prefer the one one the right. Maybe find some pictures of someone using a sledgehammer as reference.
I really like the first one, a lot of tension and suspense in that pose - lots and lots of potential for a beautiful gesture too, it reads really clearly! I think it also shows the design of the hammer nicely too, although both thumbs are good for different reasons
Thank you for your suggestions @moirae and @nesokaiyoh and I think I will go with the first thumb so that I can show off his cool hammer!
