Did a bunch of little silhouettes to figure out what I wanted to go for I kind of like the j so far but any feedback from you guys would be cool

So after I got some feedback from a discord i'm in I realized there was nothing that really depicted my element so I was looking at fish like lionfish for making spiny fins and other shapes that I thought would be better I also came up with a bit of a story for this, in the world where the character is from humans are very high tech but some creatures have a sort of magical power. So some questionable "scientists" would do experiments trying to splice the DNA of a human with one of the creatures in order to gain power and my character was one of the people that was taken and experimented on against her will. She managed to escape and her sole goal was to get revenge on the people that did this to her and so she became an assassin in order to stop the experiments once and for all

So I went with C from the silhouettes above since I felt that one had the most potential and I really liked it as well. Trying to figure out the color scheme and make it show that my character is from the water element, so far I think I want to go with H as the color scheme, any thoughts would be appreciated

F really catches my eye,
And i'll elaborate on why: youve got your gold and your white placed near the character's head, which is a natural focal point, and where you want to stick your brightest (Or most 'different') colors
with H, i like the colors, but my eye is always drawn to her pants because its the only place that grey color is used, it might be better to make her pants the same color as her top, theres nothing wrong with that if they're the same material!

Anyway, keep up the nice work

Thanks for the insight, now you've kind of swayed my a decision a little bit. I do like the black and gold combo but I wasn't sure if it would come off as a water character and that's why I liked H, maybe i'll try changing the pants color like you said.

The pointy fin shapes throughout her design + her cool toned skin feel like they're enough to me

Something i think about when I color is, "Where do I want people to be looking?"

It might work to actually swap her pants and hood/hair color with H, but im interested to see what you come up with!

Ah man there are so many possibilities!, hopefully I don't get too indecisive with these.

I feel that these will be good colors to use, I also did a quick sketch of the face to see how the hood would fit

It's been a while I worked on some thumbnails and I think this one here has the most potential, need to fix and figure out a lot of stuff before I go any further, like the angling of the arms and swords

So after doing a bunch of sketches to practice poses, I figured that the thumbnail could be improved and this is what i've done with it, I really need to focus on this instead of getting distracted

slowly trying to figure out lighting and colors

Hey !

I'm glad you've changed your thumbnails, it look so much better like this.
Really cool character ! Keep up the good work

thanks! that's nice to hear, I may still change the pose to really nail down the attacking feel

So I wasn't feeling confident about my design so I did some sketches and came up with this, I realized I hadn't incorporated the element emblem in the previous design

The shark inspiration of the design is way clearer in the second one. But I feel like there's something missing, maybe you could play a bit with the head ? Or go heavier on the other parts ?

hmm like adding scales or something to the head to make it more like a sea careture?

Yeah maybe, you could also go for a shark tail instead of the legs and make some mermaid. A back fin ? Make a fusion between the swords and the arm .. These are just some random idea I have right now

Haven't worked too much on this in the past week, been doing studies to help with the illustration but I did a little mockup of her face

I really want to work on the illustration but I didn't feel the design was really there yet, so this is the result and I'm gonna work on the illustration now
