Some design choices for Pegaeae. I already know I'm not going to use outfit one, its too earthy for a water spirit.
The water logo/icon will be under her right eye regardless of which outfit is used.
I'm not sure which outfit to use so let me know which one(s) you prefer! You can also mix/match outfit elements. I'm thinking of using the tribal outfit for the contest entry ^.^

Here are some pose sketches I made at work today. I am trying to do more dynamic poses so I'm definitely leaning towards the poses on the right. The weapons Pegaeae uses are in the top left corner.
Top right corner she's using the spear and the bottom sketches she's using the kyoketsu-shoge.
Which of the poses do you find the most interesting?

love the idea of the spear changing the length and changing state!

thanks  another character that's in the same universe has a weapon that changes from a staff to a bow and arrow. she's earth based so her weapon is made of vines wrapped around a magical gem ^.^

This isn't going to be my final illustration for this contest, but this is an illustration that is going to be in a series of other characters in their story.
I fleshed out her messenger outfit design and I hope you like it
I drew it traditionally at work so the circle in the background is off center ;~;

The spear with the water-shaft is really cool! Although it'll probably be a challenge to pull off in the illustration.

I am up for the challenge >:3
last year I was doing a bunch of experimenting with my style so now I'm challenging myself to draw things I normally dont (aka backgrounds lol)

Here's the finished product
I added detail to the background and added some white highlights to the water in the kyoketsu-shoge (the weapon she's wielding). I'm really happy with how she turned out and I'm slowly building the world she lives in.

Hey !
Nice design, the weapon and the veil look really great !
I'm not sure if you are asking for c/c but. If I can, I'd say you should push the background a bit further. You could add some variations in the plants instead of just using a brush. And the reflection in the water could use a bit of differentiation from the actual trees.
But good one so far ! :sunny:

Hello! Yeah I know the background could use some more work, I usually don't do backgrounds so that really shows haha :'D
thanks for the c/c ^.^

I have a nice friend who is like you. She is incredible at drawing line art and character and never do background.
But well she is improving a lot. The better way to become better at environements is to do simple studies of scenery or landscape whitout any character.

Congrats on completing it! I hope you learned a lot during the process (and maybe not to be so scared of those dastardly backgrounds eh? hehe)

@Oceane_Roh haha last year i was pushing myself with trying to find/improve my art style. this year I want to push myself to do backgrounds ^.^
@nesokaiyoh SQUEEEEE thanks so much :3 I was so surprised when I saw that you liked my work ;~; (im a fan from dA lol). backgrounds are still a little bit frightening but i'm going to try and push myself to improve on them this year ^.^

Hell yeah fixing objectives like this are a really nice way to progress

haha ikr ^.^ i'm pumped up for this year 's possibilities
