My track record for finishing these is not good.
Recently watched the movie Shadow by Zhang Yimou, and while I enjoyed it, the umbrellas made me a chuckle, So I wanted to use an umbrella. The idea is that the wielder uses the umbrella to channel lightning that pulses into the users body and the user can shoot the lightning out.

Starting blockout

and more blocking, decided to give her a friend that flies into the air creating thunderstorms, apparently the raiju is an mythical electric beast, which is usually represented by a wolf, but ive been watching monkey documentaries recently so my raiju will be a monkey dragon...

wanted to explore a bit more.

Not fully sold, trying to make it less busy but i think i missing the some of the utilitarian feel. Things i need to do, figure out how the lightning channels from the umbrella through the body

Happy new year!

More refinement of the concept, i think im getting happier where its at.

Made her face rounder to contrast with all the spiky things i was adding,
Moved scar to right to balance out the details, previously it was detail heavy on the left side.
Felt that the design still felt a bit nebulous so added in more japanese armour elements to ground the design more,
Trying to get some lightning symbology on her skin, so it looks like the lightning travelled her body, tearing the skin apart.
And for the skin im trying to have a sort of petal shape, think it works well on the chest, her arms def need work but thinking they could a little bit sharper as that is where the lightning starts to come out.
Refined my monkey dragon, gonna call him Mogon...
