'No one messes with our goalie'... pretty sure that rule is written in stone on the walls of Canadian parliament. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

@philsawyer and @prinzmoana Thank you!

So the deadline is coming and I such I won't spend too much time on figuting out the pose and composition of my illustration .

My first idea was to have something dynamic with him jumping around while blocking stuff with his shields.

But then it didn't really allow me to show the flag motif that's on the shield all that much. So I did this one which is less epic, but allows me to shows the front of his shields.

I think I'll try to do a third option based of a more dynamic goaler's pose. And if I like it I'll probably go with it.

Googling 'Goalie Fights' can potentially give some pretty good pose references, considering how they have to stand and move with those huge pads on their legs. I find it gives them a strong, wide stance. It might give a bit more insight with what pose to go with.

Maybe a strong, wide stance with raised fists, the whole 'put-up-yer-dukes' sort of thing with those cool blocky pads on the arms?

I do love that first pose too!

Thanks for the feedback @philsawyer :+1:

It's pretty rough, but I think I like this. I might change it a bit, butI get to show the pads' front and it's more dynamic than my second one.

I love his expressions from earlier, he's gonna be awesome! I agree with the previous comment about the stance, the hockey goalies have a very specific stable stance, but the lunge can be cool as well!

Thanks guys!

Here's me trying a more goalie pose. I dig it. I feel this defensive pose fits better with the kind of personnality I had in mind for him.

So in the end think it'd be between that one and the lunge one I posted just before. I'll think about it and decide tomorrow

So I quickly sketched an inbetween pose as I thought neither of the two I had quite worked with what I had in mind. And I like this one better. It's still defensive, but has a bit more movement to it

And heres my very messy comp. He'll be in a snowy place with trees around. He'll be protecting a little creature by blocking various projectiles.

I like the dynamic feeling in your environment (trees), looks very lively

Thanks @prinzmoana! I was just trying to make give it dynamism the best I can since I'm not really good at that sort of things. So I figured I could stylize and exaggerate the trees to add more movement.

A bit of progress from this morning

I think I'll focus on the little guy he's protecting and adding the javelins or whatever he'll be blocking so that at least I have a full scene locked in.

Man the defence values on this guy must be through the roof.

So I'm under no illusion that I can finish in time, which is fine as I'm doing it just for fun. But I still want to present something decent. So I made a quick test with a blurred background so that I can save time and focus more on the character. And even if I don't finish it before the deadline, I'll still keep working on it after until I reach a result that I'm satisfied with. I'm liking it too much!

And also, there's this little guy!

Here's my final entry. I actually didn't get to work on it all that much today, in part because I did the character sheet. So in the end there's not a whole of difference from what I posted yesterday. I'll keep working on it even if the contest is over as I think it's worth it!

I present you Oscart, also known as Shortail or the bipedal beaver. He was born with an abnormal short tail, but in return he gained the abilty to walk on two legs. He uses his unusual abilty to protect his fellow forest dwellers from all those who want to get their hands on the mystical Maple Elixir which is harvested by the dwarf bears.

Best of luck to everyone!

This is adorable.
Wonderful work!
