Here's my reference board for the time being. It has paintings based on folklore as well as some traditional clothing and instruments and other notable things about the country like northern lights.

I like your explaining style of your character. I feel like it will complement the design even more when people often don't know traditional stuff about particular country I was thinking about same thing but was not sure if it's good idea

Go for it! I think sprinkling some history and mythology always adds more depth to the character even if other may not know the reference.

It's amazing with the spirit behind! Also, maybe it's stupid idea, but I think that you can make that birch bundle for sauna much more prominent! This is hilarious as a weapon
