Hi everyone !
I am going for a Japanese Warrior, japanese culture is frequently defined as sitting at the crossroad between tradition and innovation. So a bunraku mecha seemed fitting

first phase of sketches, searching for shapes. At this very basic level, i'm mostly looking for volumes and shapes that would convey the warrior (proactive, dynamic, threatening, competent, agile...). Probably going for A (very mecha & aggressive) or G or C (more noble, samurai-like)

A is my fav but they all have interesting shapes. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the feedback @malcom , i went for the A, with its aggressive shapes, i thought it would be a better start as a warrior, and then to dress it with traditional materials and secondary shapes. This is what i'm working on with this board

This pass was very long to figure out, alot of back and forth and reconsideration on the shape language side

Here's final, glad to be able to complete it, even though i would have probably done things differently with more time.
The composition on the illustration is heavily inspired by the great Sergey Kolesov's work and Liam Wong.
