I agree, composition B has a much stronger appeal imho, the sense of action and movement was underlined by more diagonals and was way more funcional, also for the viewer's eye. In the coloured version there is much more to look at (wich is not always a bad thing, but it becomes more challenging to put all elements in equilibrium with a distinct hierarchy). btw very nice job so far!

I thought the shield would play a bigger part in the composition as you spent a lot of time on its design, they seem more incidental at the moment.
