First of all, sorry for my crappy english but I will try my best. I wanted to attend for this contest because, it will be a good practice for me, I'm not an illustrator, I'm still student and I think I can learn new things thanks for this contest! Because I was short on time and I didn't know exactly how these things worked, I decided that the best way to design the character would be the silhouettes. It was a good starting point for me. He is going to be in attacking mode!
When I finished the silhouettes, I chose number 8 for this contest. Because I thought of a feature, that made it interesting. He is going to wear a cloak which is made of sea and I think he can use this cloak as a weapon as well. I just tried to be unique. Still I don't know if I'm going to finish it on time but here we go!
After my character was more or less formed in my mind, I created a mood board for him. In here you can see that, I put traditional clothes which they wear it in their dances. And also I want to use a turtoise ( Loggerhead sea turtle ) in somewhere!
This is my first sketch for this character design. I get inspired from Salamis which is in Cyprus. But I didn't like how it came out... So I redrew it.
And I think this is going to be the final result in my character design. I need to draw his back too.
