After thinking for a while which country pick, I just decided to pick Spain since is my country. So here I go with my Spanish Champion.

Before enter the contest, I decided to have something to show.

After seeing all the regionals costumes from every province of Spain (52 provincies, almost every one have is own costume or even more than one) I pick Andalucia and its 8 provinces.

The first idea was a dress/suit that represented the 8 provinces or had something to represent them (for example: 1 pin for each province), but as soon as I started the project I discarded it, for some reason it always looks like a bullfighter, and I know that the Bullfighting is one of the big clichés of Spain, even when most Spaniards hate it.

Now knowing this, I chose Seville and Huelva since both have the flamenco dress as the regional costume.
So the idea is to make an armor that looks like a flamenco dress. Here is the first concepts:

You need to redo your back ground. You put tons of work into the character and lighting only to have the image distracted by an unfinished scene. If your character is a bull fighter inspired, why not do a coliseum or stage? You don't have to have people, but just having a more developed space can push your submission so much further. Don't cut yourself short, keep going.

My comment may seem harsh, but it actually comes from experience. Also, it tells a lot about the artist's character. Say you are interviewing for a position at XY company and you submit this on your demo reel. They are going to look at every detail of your drawing because even though you are applying for a character design position, they are going to want to see the character in an environment to interact with and it makes you stand out from others who are not strong in that area. It doesn't take much to go the extra mile and by putting that polish on your piece you elevate it further and grow as an artist.

I want you to succeed in whatever you are passionate about. Please don't see this as a hateful comment, but rather someone who wants to see others grow beyond their current state and able to apply what they have learned through art into other aspects of their life.

Amazing concept!!! love. the fact that we actually went literaly to the same conception of Spain!(Mine is in the 3D category)
I really like the design of yours!!
