hey everybody,
for my first ever art war I'm designing a female magician inspired by traditional Swedish culture!
I'm in my first year of studying visual game design and therefore kind of new to the whole thing so I think this will be a great learning experience

hello and welcome to my thread! I'm really excited to start sharing my design process for this character with you!
These are the inspo photos and my first idea sketches I did. It's mainly inspired by traditional swedish clothing and patterns. So I thought about something from the norse mythology or a viking design or something with elch elements... but as soon as i did the upper sketches I decided to do a swedish magician : )

Tried out some variations of her outfit and then different color variations of my favourite one! I'd say we're almost ready to go into 3d yay

UPDATE, here are my ideas for the pose and her magic power. It's definetely not final what her power will look like since these ideas are pretty basic but I really like this pose and the angle of looking up to her in a way. So I did the posing and started on the boots which are mostly a leather strap that holds some fabric. In some viking references you can see the trousers being bound like this on the calves but I think I like my twist on in cause it means I get to do rouffles : ) by the way this is my first time sculpting a complex character like this so my methods may not be the best or easiest for some of you ^^

I know there's a huge time gap since I uploaded my last progress but I promise it's been worth it since I haven't been lazy.. I have most of the major detailed stuff modeled and am now in the texture/painting stage! This is where I'm really noticing knowledge and practice gaps but zbrush is still running and my hand still working so we're bringing this to an end

proud momma showing a progress profile render of my magician.. I'm surprised about how hard it was to make the face look right since that was the part I was most excited about. But it looks cute now thatn it's painted, I onlywant to make some changes in the eyes and add some freckles and this part should be about done

this was a lot of fun and I think I learned a lot, it really was about all the things I had to learn or find out how to do in the first place for me.. until next time
