For this years Art War I decided to sculpt a character based on Kazakhstan and it's traditional clothing! I don't have much experience in ZBrush, but hope to improve my skills and gain motivation by joining this war!

I started by making some sketches and silhouettes, based on my moodboards! I plan to add a cute sidekick to my character, an eagle called Timur. Not sure if I want the Eagle to be big enough so Sanja could fly in the wild or small enough to help him irritate their opponents. Sanja isn't exactly super strong. He rather outsmarts his rivals with his swiftyness so they end up confused, dizzy and a bit provoked.
He's a smart but cheeky kid.

This is my first big moodboard. Sanjas Clothing is inspired by traditional clothing and armor.
I plan Sanja to carry a bow with him, but whips or a combat staff are also an option! The sculpt is planned to be stylized and cute.

That's my "small" moodboard - things I tried to concentrate on during the designing phase.

1 month later

I am a bit of a chaot when it comes to working on a project, so I just do what I feel like first. In that case, I started & finished the head, hair and weapon before anything else. The body is still wip.

Here is the boys cheeky face!

It still needs some polishing, but thats okay. I especially enjoyed polypainting.

The back of Sanjas head. Stylish haircut, right?

The scalp is still a bit too blocky!

Here is my procress on how I made the face. I started with the Anime Head Base and then slowsly shaped it with Move, ClayBuildUp and DampStandard. And of course Smooth. In the procress I polypainted it to help me visualize what the heck I'm actually doing there.

The Eyes are just two polypainted spheres with the ToyPlastic Material on it and the tear ducts are roughly shaped spheres.

Gave him some golden earrings by playing with the donut subtool. I didn't want them to be perfect.

As long as it works, it works- The Teeth are two cylinder subtools that i edited with mainly the masking tool. The upper gum was once a donut shape and the tongue a sphere. Enjoyed polypainting a little bit of texture on it aswell!
