So I finaly finished the anatomy assignments. There is still much to train to get good anatomy results but I now have a so much better understanding than before.

For the figures I did not use any reference because I wanted to experience how to build such an figure from scratch. For real works I will use References if possible. then the results should be much easyer to reach.

The last 2 are the deformed figures from the assignment to try

Here is the first part of the color and light assignment.

It is an old character concept from late 2019. (I know there some mistakes but I wanted to try the color palettes on something own)
I desaturated the character and copied it a couple of times. Then I took up to 5 colors from the shown colorwheel + one background color, switched the blending mode to overlay and roughly overpainted the characters. After that I zoomed out and looked how it feels. My favorite ones are 2 and 3. But normally I would use more desaturated and fewer intense colors for a more "realistic" look.
When I painted the character last year I did not use any values so there were just colors. That's the reason why the values are a bit off sometimes. But I still fell the original was not that a bad colorchoice

I also did the light exercise with the boxes. Now the last is to do the same with more complex forms

And there are the last ones. They are really rough but the most of them should work

I also did the first step for the character design class. I never took such an approach when it comes to characters but it is really nice. The problem I have is that I can not really decide which of the silhouettes I should take to go further ^^
But maybe 3 are not enough. I will do some more and then take the next step for the character.

Your complex lighting looks good and so do the boxes, the only thing I noticed was that the shadow for the green box is a bit off. The light is coming from above the front left corner so there shouldn't be a shadow in the front.

With your character design, I think you're off to a good start, but I think a few more thumbnails wouldn't be a bad idea. You've got some good ideas down but all I'm getting from the thumbnails you have is a knight. Try to tie all the elements together and give them a bit of a backstory. Don't make a novel or anything but something along the lines of " After failing to save their lord this knight has wandered the land for ten years seeking revenge." So with this, you could say that the armor is a bit beat up and a few pieces are missing or mismatched. Give him a beard to show that he's been away from any kind of high society.

hope that's helpful, keep up the awesome work

9 days later

Unfortunately I could not work on this for a while because I lost my Internet for a week.

So I have now The rough base finished. The next step is to polish it to a good level and after that go to colors.

I changed a few things about the idea and hero shape of the character but it works good I think ^^

The method to paint like in the class was a bit hard for me and took a lot of time. For future characters I will switch to a line work after I have the silhouette because this feels easier and faster.

I am finally finished.

Like I said I changed The Idea of the Character while working on it. It is more like an Ice Warrior who lives Isolated in a northern wilderness ^^

It was pretty nice to work on this Character, and I learned quite a lot. For example to paint in grayscale first and color with gradient maps.
All took much more time as I wanted to spend on this. But the result turned out well I think. The feet are a bit wrong in perspective I think and the left Arm is not in correct size.

Just started the Creature drawing class.

For the first assignment I just searched for some photos and sketched them in about 30min each.
I did not focus much on the values. They are just there for a better feeling, when looking on the sketches.

For the next assignment I will use some different animal types

I also did the 2nd assignment

These are really rough. I just did it and tried to understand the Anatomy and did not focus on an aesthetic look.
I have chosen next to the deer an orca and a raven to see similarities and differences.

Now the Next is an Animal construction.

So I finished the first animal construction. I choose also a horse like in the Video because I will need this maybe more in future and also it was easier to get in to.
I also noticed that many of the muscles for the construction are just very soft visible. So my brush edges in the drawing are maybe to hard at some spots

There is the last Assignment

I will leave it by one for now. The creature drawing class was so far the most exiting class of the program ^ ^

These all look fantastic! Your final in particular is really cool

So I did the Mech Design

The Idea Was an Observation Mech for other planets with some weapons to defend against Alien creatures.

It is a bit messed up but I just make it worse somehow while keep going. I think It is my lack of knowledge of how to handle the lights.
I also skipped the 3d Stuff for now because my Zbrush trail is over and I would have to learn a new program but I do not have much motivation to work on 3d for now. Maybe I will come back to this point later.
