So I decided to go with the title of Inquisitor as my project, I will be working to create a character that will be driven by light to expel evil.

Currently exploring the different ideas I have. I'm just quickly sketching these out, not minding how it looks or works. I typically just try to get this done as quick as possible before the idea gets lost.

Here is my first initial sketch I put together

I'm leaning towards light, although I will explore dark just so I can see if I made the right choice.

Following my first sketch, I tried something that had more movement and flow to it. I want something interesting that could be more dynamic if I wanted it to be.

I followed the two and merged them together in what I believe is something I will be definitely exploring.

Followed my initial sketches with some more simplified sketches. From my starting sketches, I like the idea of a flowing mantel or some sort of cloak. I also really like the sword I did in the second sketch. I think I picked what I personally thought would be cool for my character and now am looking at how I can make it work.

I really like the idea of the upper half being the focus, with emphasis on the headpiece. I imagine as an inquisitor, you have to be impartial and therefore you are blinded by justice (doing what is right regardless). So this blind obedience to the light is something I really want to display as literally as I can.

So this is mostly shape exploration with a little variation here and there Please give me some tips/advice if you have any, I am always looking to improve my designs!

As far as the shape goes, I am mostly incling towards design three, though I prefer the headpiece on #1 more. All in all, nice work already!

Thanks! I also quite like the third, as it is a mix of the previous two. But I think the headpiece will get redesigned. I like both 1 and 3, 3 because of the downward angles doing wonders with the swords. I quite like the symbolism of triangles being equal to some extent linking to the character.

Threw together a more finalized sketch. I just used bits of my previous sketches to create this idea quickly.

I'll leave it here for now and come back to it in the new year

Back at it again after a break!

Looked at my last sketch today and decided to figure out what the character would look like without the cloak. I'm trying to stay loose in my ideas here.

Working on the Final illustration!

Inquisitors expel evil and blasphemy. So I thought a scene where the inquisitor is the central figure surrounded by the evil would be appropriate. Here is one of my initial sketches.

So I did a bit of a breakdown for myself so I can follow what I have envisioned for this illustration.

I want every evil thing to be facing or looking towards or on direction towards the Inquisitor. This way I can have everything leading towards the inquisitor to frame it as a central figure.

Secondly, the only things that are leading outwards are the swords to suggest that the inquisitor is a powerful figure and the evil is at mercy.

Lastly, I need to organize and make sure my secondary elements are balanced and not too symmetrical. I feel like I want this scene to show that this is a death march. It's literally the shining light surrounded by everything that is trying to extinguish it.

The demons are curious, they know this inquisitor could just strike them down. But they haven't done anything wrong, so they just watch as the inquisitor slowly goes down the road to find those who must be punished.
