I'm just going to dive right in here. Never participated before, but I figure I should at least give it a shot. Dark side represent.

I've had this concept bouncing around my mind for a while, so I figure now's a good time to actually work on it.

The idea is basically a sentient witch's hat. Upon partnering with a young witch, the pair draw on each other's power to cast spells and such. After adventuring and doing battle and whatnot, the hat evolves into a type of armor for the witch. Eventually, as they become more powerful, the hat evolves into a kind of fucked-up EVA armor-style being permanently bonded to the witch.

This is really cool! i reckon if you made the woman bigger it might help the design and make for a really interesting silhouette but it looks great anyways, keen to see where you go with it!

Really love the initial design! I do agree about making the woman bigger, and perhaps also maybe it would be cool if you could see her hands peeking out, but maybe holding an eye or tied to the armor or something. I find that hands can be very expressive, and will help to increase the reconizeability of the woman. Greap concept so far, though, and I look forward to seeing more!

The addition of the tail and cape give her a "grandeur" character feel, I think it suits her.

I'm really loving the first and second image of this design. With just the chest showing but also the initial design as well. So rad! Looking forward to seeing this

Here's another sketch. This is what I'm thinking is under the cape. Gonna do some head sketches next. Not sure I'm happy with the current design. Also need to do one that shows how the chest hinges open for the witch. I think the correct size for the witch is for her to be about as tall as the upper torso. The torso area would be the cavity where the witch is seated, suited? I picture it kind of like the guymelefs in Escaflowne, if you guys have seen that anime.

Nice idea! I really like the demon-like features the armour has. Makes it look pretty evil!
Are you going to give it some color/value variations in her design or will the armour be mostly black with these red gems?

@tithendar Definitely want to try out some different color schemes. I imagine it will be a dark, navy-ish blue with red/yellow underbelly. Dark red cape. Here's the initial concept I had done a while ago. The demon armor would evolve from this witch's hat.

Basically, the legs of the hat form into the head spikes/horns and the tip of the hat forms into the tail. The rest of the body grows from the spine-like structure at the back of the hat. Not sure how I'm going to be able to include all this in the character sheet, but the final concept illustration should just be the evolved armor form.
