Hi!
My buddy told me I should enter this contest for fun. I'm doing this to develop some better sculpting skills. I'm a motion graphics person trying to become a better 3D person, so that I can eventually become a game development person. Not sure how I'll do in this contest, but it'll be a fun project, and I'm pretty excited about my character!
So here's what I'm thinking. I'm a long time horror fan especially of the lovecraftian style of large scale monsters. Ancient evils who's mechanisms seem like terrifying magic. Alien in form, massive appendages reaching down from the clouds. With origins known only through the careful study of texts filled with esoteric knowledge found behind the locked doors of secret societies. Unnameable, or in possession of names so old and impossible to pronounce by humans that they have long been forgotten. My character isn't something you can fight with sword or a gun. It's not something you can fight at all. It is the bomb already dropped, or the predator at your neck. You have to follow the clues, and find the secrets to stop it from ever reaching our reality. You'd better succeed in your quest, or you will meet The End... Oooooooo.
Here's some concept inspiration I put together:
Literally tentacles coming down through the clouds.
Here's my sculpts so far in Oculus Medium. This... this is so nasty in VR. I accidentally threw it at my face the other day when it was scaled to the size of a large dog and I nearly fell over ducking it, haha!

So, I'm thinking it's going to be a planet scale destroyer. The glowing jazz on it's back is a wormhole tether. Then the black pyramids and blue sphere are part of its energy weapon. I'm imagining that the weapon is a secondary wormhole exit with its unseen entrance positioned over the top of a gamma ray burst fixed on the center of a feeding super-massive black hole. So once it's open there isn't really any force without the ability to warp space-time that can survive it. Its body changes depending on the type of civilization it's about to destroy. It's form is determined by an initial telepathic scan of the planet's inhabitants' most primal fears. For some reason causing this fear is paramount to the event. This character's motivations are as mysterious as they are terrifying. Some say that the victims of it's destruction aren't killed, but transported into a terrifying inescapable hell-scape where they are set upon by The End's grotesque acolytes and native alien beasts that look more like demonic chimeras of familiar animals then any sort of beast that would make sense. It is a place from where no one has returned, and is only rumored to exist in the stone carvings of dead civilizations.
That's it for now! I'll try to post more progress by the end of the week
