2 year olds are notorious for their painting ability as evidenced by this news article involving a girl having climbed into a tub of paint when left unattended.

This interesting fascination with art led me to wonder how I would handle such a situation were I ever to face with my little cousin when I meet her next year.

And that’s how I came up with my concept for the Art War, dedicated to the "terrible two's" where children paint walls, floor, themselves and others with whatever painting implement they can get their hands on.

I am thus equipping her digital self with the right equipment to bring color to her imaginary world more efficiently without driving her mum (my aunt) crazy.

And when she’s old enough and willing, she could join me in making a video game of it!

@alien_hand - Lol, as long as the paint doesn't end up on the walls, I don't think my aunt would mind.

I will add detail to the concept if time permits, though I do prefer to jump in to 3d asap and concept in sculpt directly.

great start so far, dont mean this in a bad way but in a thats cool way, sofia kinda reminds me of baymax from big hero 6 just throwing my 2 cents in feel free to ignore it but i think i could look cool if you add some childish scribbles on her exoskeleton as kids will draw on anything, hell i still even draw on my arms and legs and im an adult...kinda.

I didn't notice the resemblance. I actually love the baymax design, both with and without the armor. He has a friendly cute look that I was also trying to achieve here (challenglng since its a human in a robot like suit) and that is an excellent suggestion about the scribbles on her suit!
Today I'm working on the cat.
I am considering giving her more accessories, if time permits, so as to add more detail than what I have planned.

yeah you nailed the friendly cute look for sure without making the suit comedically fat.you got nice soft curves and edges. great design. cant wait to see what you do with the cat and make it look friend as cats are natures sociopaths

Thank you for the compliments! It was challenging to get her to look right. I'm seeing the the suit as a base for a lot of embellishments to power all the tech she'll carry.

(Still have to do the fur detailing, other detail and polish. considering sculpting it instead of hair cards if I can get it to look right)

Nice work with the cat.... but did you give the cat human eyes?
also will the cat have booties? -270 degrees celsius is pretty cold for the the cats tootsies

The eyes are only temporary, have to figure out the best way to do them.
And lol, I'm thinking about the boots for the cat since the feet are pretty small, might make them similar to the girls feet.
Also I updated the cats face to make it a little less chubby and will be doing some draw-overs today for the detailing of the suit and various accessories.
For the fur I'm thinking of going sculpted fur in the chance that it might be 3d printed at some point.

@alien_hand - And they do plan to 3d print your model if you win, though I expect they would work on it with you at the time.

really like this cutie. But her face looks like she is a mature woman. Maybe make her eyes bigger, bring them and the mouth closer together and maybe the face wider. Give her cheeks some extra fat, so she looks younger and a lot more cute. Keep up the good work ^^

Hahaha there is no way I will win any of the prize pool. I'm totally out matched by a lot of artists on here i just want to get better and use competition as a driving force.
I love the doodles on her my main issue with them though is they kinda look too clean hard to tell at this resolution. I'd get your cousin to draw pictures and scan that in and use it for texture or do the doodle with your left hand ( there's a 1 in 10 chance you're right handed)

Small update today.
@zazie -Thanks for the feedback.
I made some corrections to the eyes, mouth, cheeks and chin.
Also defined the lips more. Might change it a bit more over time, and the skin detailing should add a lot of depth.

@alien_hand - There are some great WIP's and we're all improving as artists. Its a good opportunity!
The doodles I have now are only temporary. My cousin is actually hard at work making some, though I will have to remake them (since the textures have to be mine). Drawing with my left hand is a fantastic idea, lol.

Awesome work with the face the only thing that really stands out is the nose it's a little too refined for a cutesy stylized kid. Children are underdeveloped by nature so features arnt usually too refined .I could be mistaken though children are bloody hard to sculpt. Great work so far man

Which is a good thing looking forward to more.

Aye, children are a challenge to sculpt, especially chubby toddlers, lol.
The face is still symmetrical, so when I add a bit of asymmetry it should look better.
Currently I'm doing the retopology of the suit before I start adding the details.
Also coming up with some weird ideas for the accessories on the hardpoints and a shoulder turret of sorts. Concepts incoming!

@zyp - Thank you! Maybe I will make a gigantic cat for her to ride on, lol
