Book Cover of St. Augustines Confessions - Advice wanted

This is a book cover I have done for St. Augustines Confessions. It is very long because the image wraps around the book. I have all of the action on the right because that will be the front of the book. Any help on how to make this better would be greatly appreciated! It just still needs some work, but I've been looking at it so long someone else's point of view would be great! Thanks guys

Wasn't he turned because of the birds he found in his garden and since then a patron for animals? I could be wrong but I remember reading something like that in my art books. If this is the guy I'm thinking of why not add suggestions to that story? I think the tree and garden is already there. You could add birds but I'm not sure how much that would crowd the cover. How would it look if the man would be a bit smaller? Not sure these are good tips because I don't know what size the front cover will be.
Could you make indications or lines to make that clearer for us?

Hey! I dont think that was in this particular story. I ended up changing the composition up quite a bit since I got a bit lost on my references. I started looking at forest floors and i changed the color palate to a cooler tone. I feel like its looking a lot better now. Before i felt like everything had no rhyme or reason to it and was too perfectly placed lol.
