Hello guys, it's my first post here and would really appreciate some feedbacks on this piece I just finished. Even if it's finished I would like to know what you think about it so I can do better next time. It's a couple of two fish ladies going at an earth party. I tried to create fish tail shapes on their designs to give them a little siren look.

What exactly would you like critique on? Colours, shapes, style etc? They both have very definable postures and personalities so they're not lacking in creativity. I actually love the small girl's dress, the yellow looks like a tail and works well

I would like some feedbacks on how to improve this to be a better character design, and I would like to know how the shape language or color could be improved on this piece to make it look more professional I think. I want to be a character designer so I mainly want to focus on the design of those characters but if anything seems off like the line weight or the render I would appreciate a feedback on that too. I'm sorry for being so vague

You're on the right track, although I do think the smaller girl's lips are a bit silly being that big haha You could try out some concepts of different outfits entirely, rather than just the same one recoloured though, or even exaggerate some features such as making the big girl really tall or with broad shoulders for instance. I can't offer much else, this style is a little out of my depth. But from first view they look pretty full of character, and I can't stop smirking at small girl's face lol her ears and mouth are ridiculous :joy:

The colors on these are superb. And in terms of anatomy, form, and lighting, spot on.
The character designs, though, are ok but are lacking in defining features. You said they were fish girls, but I wouldn't have known that had you not mentioned it. I'd suggest adding some fishy designs on their clothes or gills to make them more unique.
The girl on the right is great--proportions are well-balanced. The girl on the left, though could use a more elegant/realistic/flowing pose. I get you were trying to make the whole thing curve like a fish but something is off and it feels a bit stiff. The lips are huge but I think there needs to be something else that is bloated towards to bottom maybe or behind the head to balance it out. Goes back to not knowing they're fish girls at first glance.
Just my 2 cents.

Thank you, I will work on making my designs a lot clearer with poses reflecting the character. I wanted to be subtile about the fact that they are fish but being too subtile is not good if it prevents people from understanding the design.I will keep this in mind. I will also try to keep balance in my next designs so thanks a lot !
