Looooook, I keep running into a wall. I thought I was onto something and it all just looks so terrible. I was trying to keep it simple, with the simple cel-shading and some airbrushing, but when it comes to drapery it just doesn't work. At some point, the whole thing starts to fall apart and I simply can't take the frustration anymore. So please; anyone who see potential in my work or think it's worth it..please. I'm so desperate to get this down so I can finally start practicing other things. I'm starting to understand adding enough to make something look like it was some depth, like with the gold pieces but, again, as soo as I get to that drapery, whatever technique I'm on simply doesn't work. Yes yes yes, it's stylized, I know. Please forgive that.

I think you just need to have more defined folds and have them follow the form of the body. But I think just being bolder by making them more defined and longer would go a long way. Something like this maybe?

And if you didn't already, I'd recommend you do a few studies from photos using your technique to see how you can make it work.

I think it is looking great! The key to good drapery is good refs and loads of studies! In your free time try to study drapery as analytically as you can! I did this course https://www.cgmasteracademy.com/courses/83-anatomy-of-clothing and I recomend it but if it is not in your budget maybe have a look at the images attached there and stalk some people's homework on that course and try to replicate it! It would definitely help!

As far as this image is concerned though, the drapery is not central to the illustration, if you make sure the head, face and the spell effect are clearly the focal point (therefore the area of most contrast), no one will even notice the drapery
