Hello everybody! My name is cryoxin or Alex, and I’m very new to art (I don't even have finished pieces like I’ve see a lot of you do ;u;) but I’ve always loved doodling and wanted to take it a step further and learn more.
Looking at art from others has always inspired me so here I am wanting to get better so that I can inspire others as well!

I’m at the cylinder part of the nude figure drawing video in term 1; and personally it’s a lot more challenging than I thought. I had trouble with the dude in the middle (the one I doodled next to) because I couldn’t tell if the joints were facing/going away from me or not.

Excited to keep learning though! Practice is pretty fun so far

Really lovely practice and welcome to th eforums! In regards to the measuring exercise Ithink you did a really nice job with this! That exercise is a big increase in difficulty. Keep it up!

@Lockenheim Thank you!! I agree - the measuring exercise was a tough challenge but not impossible
Looking over your progress I really liked how you seem to get proportions just right - do you just do what Marc does in the videos or is there a way that clicked for you that may help?

I think there's 2 things to point out:

The posture in the ref is usually a bit more dynamic than what you put on paper. With the measurement exercise it's not about the gesture, but I think it might be worthwhile to keep that in mind as it can help you look for spots where your measurements are off.

The other thing is linequality and especially lineeconomy. For the measurement exercise I'd personally try to make my lines as clean as possible. With your lines there is oftentimes a lot of ambiguity, which isn't necessarily bad in terms of artistic value (and in fact your lines are still appealing to me) but it makes mistakes way harder to spot.

That being said, your measurements are quite close so I don't really see a problem, just something you can keep in the back of your mind for future attempts.

That actually makes a lot of sense, I feel a lot of hesitation when it comes to making things more dynamic. I think I'm just afraid of it not looking right if I make something look too curvy or out there (even though that's how it actually is in the photo); so I definitely need to work on that and being more free.
For the line quality I definitely see what you're sayin, I'm not sure how to be more confident in my lines so that they don't look so hairy but I'll just have to practice more

Love your gestures, they are easy to read and have a nice flow :}
For the male in the msm exercise at first glance I wasn't sure if his left leg goes to the back, or up (like to the camera). I think here it would probably help if the right leg overlapped the left one. ^^
But besides that both measurement exercises look pretty neat 😄👌

@prinzmoana I see what you mean, its definitely hard to see the depth the way I drew it. Along with your suggestion should I add a little shadow?
